Really surprised and disappointed at how quickly people have turned on Walters this year. He’s been an elite player, AA, one our clubs best ever and earned his payday.

Walters has bled enough purple in his life to be on the coin he is.

Lol so what. Ballas bled more purple than him and has comparable achievements as a small forward. He copped it with far less defense from the supporters. Why? Because he doesn't have a highlight reel as good as Walters'? No individuals' status is more important than the team. 2 seasons of selfish, lazy trash now. He's starting to balance out how many games he won for us of his own boot with how many he's lost us.

It's possible to acknowledge his past contributions to the club and still be unhappy with his current output.

If Walters is injured and the club said he was playing through something, it would make it better but small forwards don't get 25 touches a game, midfielders do.

So expectations are different for the roles

I hear your “bleeds purple” and yes he does deserve respect, but many before him can also be placed in that group. Henry is going to be some player and I think Switta/Shultz complement the front 6 well. Colyer/Crowden are not up to it, but our depth is a serious worry when they continue to get games.

Walters may just need a spell, but I can’t see JL doing that unless he puts his hand up….and as you have mentioned he “bleeds purple” so he should put his hand up and have a spell.

Watching Walters play footy the last year and a bit has been pretty horrible. He constantly plays for the free kicks. He was never overly quick, and has lost some more pace with age. I think he's just been trying to get cheap kicks a lot of the time. On top of that he's missed goals he'd usually get. Plus games like the last 2 where he's been a bit of a witches hat.

Definitely has to be his last few games.

Similarly, why in the world did we let Stephen Hill go around again? What a waste of a list spot. The few games he played last year you could see he wasn't up to AFL anymore, his body couldnt keep up. Yet here we are 3 qtrs through the season and he's too banged up.

The club makes some remarkable decisions which seem to be based on what you did in your past. bit of a boys club mentality it seems.

In this role he would be completely justified in still being involved with the club , almost like having another midfield coach . Pretty sure we will start hearing about SHills final game soon ( if we had any certainty about fixturing )

Walters could go into that role for his final year , don’t think he is worth much in a trade ?
I love SonSon to bits but it’s getting harder each week watching what was and what could be .

Don’t agree entirely, leadership can take many forms .
Yeh , you could give them the gold watch and say thanks for coming and then spit them out the other end or look more long term .
Perhaps the club is being clever with their limited finances and see a future role for them within the club ?

Looking at that top 100 list, I’m not at all comfortable giving Cerra $750K over 4 years. He might get to the point that he demands that coin, but he is not there yet.

I see Walter's demise as swift. I doubt he'll cope with relegation so once that happens, he'll get stuck down there. I hope I'm wrong though.
