Round 18 released.

“I want to acknowledge the GWS GIANTS and Sydney Swans football clubs who remain in Victoria – we will continue to closely monitor the situation in New South Wales and hope to reunite both clubs with their families as soon possible.” AFL Executive General Manager Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld

How about you acknowledge Fremantle FC you flog, you’ve messed us around the most
GWS & Sydney started hubbing in Vic a week before us and are staying at least one week more than us

Does everyone listen to the griff and mundy podcast.

Pretty good episode with josh carr today. Gee whiz he was a serial pest. I laughed at his sledge towards some carlton players in a pre season match when he was yet to play an AFL game. When they said to him wtf are you his response was "read the paper tomorrow and you will find out".

I think that was pretty clear preseason when Fyfe said finals were likely, he was expecting us to turn the corner this year.

Well we should be really. Thrown away 2 games from poor goal kicking. And probably another 5-10% against GWS. A 5 goal win should have been a 12 goal win.

We would be 7th with a 6 point gap over 9th.

Interesting to hear Lobb is open to a trade at season’s end. If he does the dirty on us after we’ve given him the easiest $1.4 million anyone has ever earned I will seriously wish nothing but ill fortune and injury on the rest of his career.
I'd prefer he'd leave than Freo pay him what he isn't even subtly posturing for

Nobody will pay him $700K so we’d have to cover the balance. That’s my main concern.
In my experience there’s generally fire where there is smoke and I’m sick of mercenaries coming to the club I love and taking their money, breaking their contracts and wasting our time.
I don’t want to pay Lobb $700K either but I would like to have thought he was fully bought in considering he’s in his home state on life changing coin. If he leaves mid contract he’s just a shit bloke and another time wasting expat.

It is possible to null and void the contract if both parties agree.

Ie we’ll let a trade happen for fair compensation.

I’m not sure if there’s anything in place to stop it happening like that but I can’t see Rory moving interstate for a $200k a year pay cut. He will want his $700k. We hold all the power here so I doubt he’s leaving. I’m just baffled as to what his motivation for leaving might be and the message it sends the younger boys about his commitment to the mission.

Would love to know where they got there source from?

On another note I hear Chris Mayne is returning to Freo next year on a one year contract then suiting up as our forward coach. Not totally against this idea must say.

So basically we’re going back to an effort-based system? I love Mayney but I can’t see it being the answer to our forward woes.

If he has $1,400,000 of contract remaining and signs a five year deal worth $3,000,000 then it's far in his favor.

He chose the Dockers because he wanted to play forward more often. With Darcy coming along nicely he gets his wish but now wants to leave?

I wonder if he has a front loaded contract. There is a worrying trend developing on the AFL of players leaving when the back end kicks in.
