Why are people saying michael walters is our greatest indigenous player ever. Antoni grover, michael johnson and stephen hill have all played 200. whilst I reckon he faces stiff competition from dale kickett, roger hayden and jeff farmer.

Personally I believe its a toss up between hill and johnson.
Stephen Hill has been consistent, but at his best, he’s a weapon. You can put him inside mid, on the wing, half back and time and time again his evasiveness and pace is elite. Watch him in the 2013 QF vs Geelong. He roved a tap by Sandi and dribbled the goal. Just recently, perhaps 2017 to now he has been cruelly denied of his elite peak. Was 26 and now 30. Could’ve been ever better. He was incredible before he got injured in 2017, and never could get back on.
Stephen easily our best indigenous ever.
Walters having an AA and Farmer not one, especially in 2004-2006 is an absolute travesty. Alan Didak kicked 41 in 06, Farmer 55. Yet Alan is considered elite. Never understood that. Farmer is a close second.
Walters need to play 200+ and return back to his form of 2019, his 2020 season has been quite poor.

Loving our match committee on the Freo site. They roped in Liam Pickering for special comments and you get the feeling he hasn't watched a Freo game for 5 years.
genuinely don't know why anyone would want to watch that, i assume it's more mass produced 'content' from hutchy and his mates, i think anyone here give more insight in their sleep on Freo than him

Fremantle’s Reece Conca says off-field maturity fuels coming-of-age for Dockers’ Luke Ryan and Brennan Cox

Fremantle leader Reece Conca has credited teammates Luke Ryan and Brennan Cox’s growth off-the-field for their emergence as top-tier defenders in 2020.

Ryan is widely considered an All-Australian favourite and produced a best-on-ground performance against Sydney with 26 disposals, while Cox has been forced to produce this season with three of Freo’s key tall backmen, Alex Pearce, Joel Hamling and Griffen Logue, all injured.

Luke Ryan of the Dockers address the spectators after being presented the Goodes-O'Loughlin Medal by Peter Bell during the round 13 AFL match between the Fremantle Dockers and the Sydney Swans at Optus Stadium.

The duo have shared a house and haircuts but they were also dropped as first-year players for breaching to the club’s standards in 2017 after drinking during a six-day break between games.
Conca believes adjustments made by both players has fuelled their defensive efforts this season.
“Brennan would be the first person to tell you that there were some aspects to his footy and life that he needed to improve on” Conca told TAB radio, “but he’s obviously done that and Luke (Ryan) the same.”

“They’re both incredible talents, they live together and they do everything together those two. It’s great to see them both performing well.
“You know there’s many guys across the list that are starting to figure out what it takes to make it on the elite level”
Cox had some success in the forward line when moved by former Freo coach Ross Lyon, resulting in a four-goal performance and a rising star nomination against Adelaide in 2018.
His return to defence and a clean bill of health has seen a confidence emerge in recent weeks resulting in strong performances over the Dockers last three games.

“Brennan has had a few injury niggles throughout his career but I think that consistency in his body has really helped him,” Conca said.
“They’ve been fantastic for us but we don’t want them to get complacent or the team to get complacent we want to keep growing and improving throughout the rest of the season.”

JL answered that dumb question from the Mayor last night very well. I get the impression that JL couldn’t care less what nuffies like Baz, Crapdorn and Corno have to say. He flat batted Baz and said he is under contract so he is required. He may yet get traded but it ain’t going to be for a completely useless pick in the 50’s. First round upgrade, 2nd round pick outright, or a player swap maybe as Jesse is still a good player.

I’m thinking we will keep them all (some of the nuffies have also said trade out APearce or Hamling for Peanuts as well) and then reassess our position. Tabs is hopefully past his injury issues but who knows what will happen next year. Big Lobb is a ruck/forward, and APearce’s recovery is progressing quite well but he is injury prone and Hamling a long way off. Logue could easily adapt and play a role like Duman or Hughes. He played on Cameron (Bris round 2) after he tore (Hughes I think) a new one with four early goals and Logue kept him quiet for the rest of the game. Someone will likely miss out but there will be enough injuries to give them all a decent go.

I reckon if Basil was on the other side of the draw he would have reached the final, rather than getting knocked out in the quarters.
Barrett going in as top seed and favourite should have been expecting a surprise finalist from the other half of the draw, but I still think he underestimated Cornes' drive to win

I'm disappointed that Hutcho didn't make it further. He's a bit like Geelong, had a long period of sustained success but has never quite reached those heights again.
Isn’t it all just winning the rights to earn a place in the GF against Crumpets. I think Corns vs Crumpets is a very worthy GF.

You might be right about Hutchy but he still may be scarred from all the GF losses many years ago and fall over again.

Geez would we really let hogan go after all the effort to get him? Lobb and taberner are at the back end of their career. As we all know good forwards are very hard to find. I did think the way JL answered the question was a little strange though.

I very much doubt it myself. I was just addressing the tossing him away for peanuts part of the pointless discussion. We knew what we were getting onto when we traded for him. I suspect he won’t play this weekend but likely in the mix for a return against Richmond.
