It's not hangable, but dumb, like you say.

The rest of the story who knows what is true. We just know what we are told.

The conviction isn't the issue, it is the message it sends to the club regarding what you can get away with.

Josh should have known better and that's probably reflected in the Club's reaction and the Court's ruling.

He should have managed the Speech Therapist situation differently. He should have sought advice from the Club, the Speech Therapist's practise or the Health Department's COVID helpline to see if there was a permissible "work-around". Perhaps the Speech Therapist could have stayed away for the "lock-down" period but given the family exercises or other things to do for that short time.

As for the cleaner excuse it really is quite a poor explanation. If this is a regular service, he could have called the company and told them of the situation and cancelled the service during that time. Or don't let the cleaner in. Or if the cleaner does come in, contact the Health Department for advice. Did the cleaner come dressed in PPE to clean the house? Even though he went outside and then to the laundrette, coffee shop and his brother's house, if he was COVID-positive the virus can survive on inanimate objects for up to many days. That alone, without PPE, exposes the cleaner (and the Speech Therapist) to the COVID virus.

Footy has been allowed to continue this year because the AFL has worked with and followed the States' public health and medical directions. Everyone that's part of the AFL, like Josh, has surely had what they need to do drilled in to them.

Finally, I think that he made very poor decisions with regards to this case. He is a role model for the younger, less mature players. But he is also a member of our community. He broke the law, and he needs to face the consequences of that. He faced court, was represented by a lawyer, and was not treated any differently to anyone else. The community needs to see that the law is applied fairly and equally to maintain confidence in our legal system.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges. That's not in question. The magistrate fined him. The fine seems to be in line with what others have received.

It's absolutely fair for us to discuss what happens after this - the reaction from the Club and wider society. I get where Electronic_Renaissance and others are coming from. They see this as another example of the Club allowing unprofessional behaviour to permeate it and that they believe inevitably leaks through to performances. Past threads like the "no d*ck-head" rule, etc all come back to this same idea. I really do get that.

But once you've taken your punishment and have shown that you understand your error and are genuinely remorseful life needs to go on.

Ok, I've calmed down from yesterday, lol. He's taken his punishment. But if he does it again...

I still believe that the Dockers are a bit soft. We should demand the highest standards if we are to get anywhere.

Complain to the club. Whinging here isn't going to change anything.

Unfortunately whinging will get me nowhere. The club talks money. A club and money, sort of an oxymoron.

Carlton lay down it’s findings tomorrow. Teague sacked and presser on Tuesday. Lyon sworn in by Thursday latest…Cerra announcement on eve of qualifying final. It’s going to be a long week. Anyone feel he is going to stay?

The personal shame with the publicity of it and the fine is more than enough. Give the guy a break. Could be any one of us
It would not be all or any of us.
The rules are simple, follow them.
I know heaps of people who have been able to quarantine themselves & they wouldn't be on the coin this w***er is on.
Ffs. If he is that dumb & it was his own stupidity to blame. Do we need that kind of stupidity coaching our team.
Send him to Adelaide.
Catchya..

No , Worst kept secret in the AFL besides Teague being sacked

There's a bit of smoke around that Clarko has changed his tune. SO everything has been pushed back another week while he makes up his mind

Like WCE did? Standards are in the eye of the beholder.

West Coast didn't want to rock the boat as they were winning. They won a premiership with that squad (how could they not have?). But look at the long term cost and the lives it has ruined.

A squad like that doesn't come around very often, they probably should have done better.

Congrats Sean Darcy on making the AA squad

Mundy in there also.

I actually think you are demonstrating how little you know about high performance environments. What people need to perform their best is psychological safety, not fear.

There is absolutely zero evidence that taking the ludicrous hard line you are proposing will actually contribute to an improved standard of anything. There is however huge volumes of evidence that organisations that create a rule by fear culture will struggle to perform, struggle to retain key people, and fail to develop the underlying conditions that support break through performance.

Look at how successful West Coast have been, you see them deploying some kind of draconian, one mistake and you are fired type policy?? How about future recruitment? You think high performing off field staff will be lining up to come and work at our club if there is evidence that the club has no tolerance for mistakes, and therefore no confidence in its ability to manage culture and performance?

It’s good that you have calmed down, now I suggest you do some actual research about how to create high performance culture if you want to be so vocal about the subject.

Good to See Suma is still alive.
He's come crawling out of his garden to give Freo a whack.

No Suma, we're a young, inconsistent side, who ****ed up the preparation and couldn't handle the situation. That's it. Nothing more to it.

Big Headiness?? You mean like assuming you are good enough to be a senior coach?

Geez he is a clown a real clickbait merchant now. Sure there may have been an element of celebration after the win but the bigger factors to me where the usual lack of manpower available at this time of year and the extremely early starting time (which was not something you could train for). St Kilda are another mature team and we just didn't have the petrol left to deal with them - that said, it was an awful performance that no one expected with finals potentially available and really soured the end of the year.

The West's current headline for the above is "Did cafe's standing ovation inflate Freo's egos?"

Seriously Eliza... you are better than that!

But even then, for all this talk that we didn't even turn up and try, we still only had 3 less scoring shots and 2 less I50's for the game. The final score (caused by our usual inaccuracy) tends to colour people's perception of how much effort was put in by a team. They were harder for longer but it wasn't the complete capitulation some in the media are trying to portray.

The GWS/Carlton game was an example of the inverse. GWS gave them a decent touch up in scoring shots, tackles and I50's, but because they were really inaccurate kicking 12.17 Carlton get credited for their 'brave effort'.
