I know Fox are significantly better than Seven, but Gerard Healy, Tony Shaw, Spud Frawley and Bung Dunstall are terrible

It was pre' funny watching Jason Dunstall get genuinely worked up when Spud was "winding down the goals from pushes in the back you kicked".

I like Frawley and Dunstall.. Shaw and Healy are crabs tho

Still really like Brereton 90% of the time.

Clearly rates himself, but he's worth listening to when he's not emotionally involved too much (some of his light hearted remarks at our expense are amusing).

I HATE Brereton during play!! When ge gets on a ramble he doesn't stop. Sometimes the main commentators have to interrupt his rambling to you know, commentate. I can't stand him as a special commentator. Funnily enough, I like him as an analyst after a game or during breaks haha

Dermot says some interesting things, but sometimes goes too far into detail - I sometimes wonder if he is trying to make himself sound smarter..

He unloaded on Goodes last night - about time someone did.

Got sick of Darcy last night going on about how Carlton should go small in the forward line.

Righto Darc.... Carlton went in tall as it was. 2 of their smalls (Ellard/Yarran) are out of the game. 1 of their smalls (Murphy) is hobbled. So if Carlton go small in the forward line does that mean they go with a spare ruckman running through the midfield? A spare ruckman picking up Milne or Saad or Milera? A spare ruckman taking up 1 of the 2 bench spots permanently hence reducing rotations?

Seriously got sick of him banging on about it when there weren't many options available to Carlton due to going in tall. Got more annoying than Walls getting a midget into the ruck to get him into the game.

Yes, yes he is.

I'm convinced Brereton is Italian or Greek (definitely stereotyping here). When on camera the amount of gesturing he does with his arms when trying to explain a point is not what you'd expect of a good Irish lad. I also think the gesturing gives him time to think and confirms the point made above that he thinks he's smarter than he is.

He has an analytical football brain but his delivery leaves a bit to be desired at times.

Getting foxtel has been the best thing I ever did. Only issue is I've now started avoiding games that 7 commentate. Don't watch any football coverage on free to air if I can help it. All the fox programs smash anything the free to air channels have.

I mostly stream the ABC Grandstand commentary and it is almost always top quality. No one trying to become a personality with BTisms or whatever, just informative descriptions of what is happening and intelligent comments from whatever player they have in as a guest (for a deadset flog of a bloke Boomer Harvey is pretty good behind a mic).

But... but what you're describing sounds like actual broadcast-quality commentary. That can't be allowed to continue, surely? How can one be expected to listen to a game without "Oh boy big boy wowee" happening every four seconds? Without hashtags and fantasy scores and betting odds and off-field gossip and miscellaneous trivia taking precedence over the actual game? Doesn't sound at all like football to me, sir.

To be fair it was Stephen Quarterbrain and he probably deserved a kick in the silly as well.

I remember the exchange well. Quarters was asking his typically insinuative and leading questions and deserved to be pulled up on it.

But Dunstall acted like a buffoon. It was funny from Dunstall (kinda), and cringeworthy from both.

So in essence they both acted like average Hawk supporters. Play on.

Just wish there had been vision. Unfortunately had to rely on Quarterbrain commentating it. "Jason Dunstall's just thrown a bowl of rice all over me! Waaaah!". Kinda reminds me of the 12th man Darrel Eastlake/Jack Gibson bit.
