Holy **** we are shit.

We would have been better off sticking with Harvey.

Not one other club has deemed him worthy of a head coaching gig since we fired him* so I really doubt it Reg. Harves is good assistant coach but not head honcho material and every other club in the league agrees with me.

*Was caretaker coach at Brisbane in the last weeks of the 2013 season after Voss got canned but it doesn't count. And they selected Justin bloody Leppitsch over him in the end anyway.

I agree that we're shit though.

There’s no atmosphere or spirit about the club anymore. Players like Hill have lost their spark. It’s sad.

Oh come on, Harvey was a shithouse coach. He constantly tried blokes out of their natural positions and would spring surprise moves which usually did more harm than good. Ross at least had a clue suitable for the time, just that his time is up now and the game has moved on. I have lost faith in Ross too, as I have said many times this season, but pining for Harvey is just plain nuts.

I’m not a regular contributor to this thread but today’s loss was just a disgrace. Hawthorn are not a good team although based on today they are much better than us. No team should be beaten by that Hawthorn side outside of Victoria/Launceston. They are genuine bottom eight material imo.

Our decision making is just too damn slow. How many times did we look to have a good option only for our player to take their time and wait for a better one. This wouldn’t come instead the opposition cover the first option and the only option is a bomb down the line or a switch that ultimately leads no where and a throw in seems a good result. Just take the first ****ing option.

Our tackling is just as bad. I could count the good tackles we made on my two hands today. For a full game of footy that’s absolutely pathetic. How many times do our opposition break through our tackles like a wet paper bag or are in no impacted by them allowing an easy handball/kick. Andy Brayshaw is a good tackler but it’s pretty bloody sad that a first year player is our best tackler.

Thirdly I’m not sure if it’s an effort or fitness thing but any decent team outruns us. To me sitting at the game it looks like both which is really really disappointing if I’m to be honest. Someone like Scott Jones has the effort imo but isn’t fit enough - that can change. Someone like Brennan Cox is so talented and maybe could be more conditioned but always looks to be going at 50% - that may not change but especially in this case boy I hope it does.

Alrighty rant over.

Harvey was the worst coach Fremantle ever had if you base it on more than just wins and losses.

Exactly. He has a bad media presence so therefore he's not qualified to coach. Stupid logic. What good has picking up a media manipulator done us?
There's being not the greatest media performer and there is also going on TV and being exposed as a meathead with no clue. If nothing scared you about that whole interview either back then or now then I don't know what to say mate.

Ross only knows defence
The start of last year he decided not to play a defensive game
Since then we don’t play we get flogged
Ross is lucky that Carlton has set a new standard of shit for a rebuild so Ross looks like his doing ok
The reality is it wouldn’t matter if we had Cripps hogan cognilio we would still stink look how the toasters have regrouped after the 2015 shellacking not the mighty Anchors we need a ten year rebuild so Ross can leave debt free

Assistant coaches this year are shite and we turn them over yearly anyway. That has to play a part. We've been rebuilding for near on 3 years. Should be ahead of Hawthorn

Hawks are stuck as a midtable team .They are a long way away from being a top 4 team.

Yes I've noticed a real drop off in coaching skills and training intensity since 2015.

It's not just Ross but he has helped get Rock a job for us who is a no name. Ross himself has since his meeting with Woodside management a number of years ago has decided to leave the pre season training to the line coaches.

This delegation coaching style has been unsuccessful.

Eastaugh / Rock need to go in the bin.

Need to throw money at a new midfield coach who was actually a good player and can teach some new things and help that group evolve beyond relying on Sandiland's dominance. Sandilands new ruck coach.

Wonder if Voss is available .

Lol.

Love how Ross tries to be more 'Hawthorn' yet high Forward pressure wins games. So so dumb.
Plus Clarko just creams him every. Single. Time. 1 win against Hawthorn throughout his time at Freo. One!
And what do we do? The same crap each time. Bomb it long, turnover and rinse repeat. Ross has no clue every time we play Hawthorn.

No they aren't. They are one game from 3rd with a better percentage, and could very well finish top 4 this season. And watch them bring in Lynch or some other gun who wants to play for Hawthorn because they know that Clarkson can/will deliver the goods.

I love it when people on BF try and tell us which of our assistant coaches are shite (usually picking out the no names based on nothing).

I mean how the **** would they know.

The lack of experience might be a problem sure but I fail to see any way of actually knowing which assistants are good or bad without being a coach or player within Fremantle FC or to a lesser extent knowing these people.

Lots of keyboard experts on here mate

That's true. So I guess going off their coaching record is all we have to go on. That and perhaps whether or not they're rated in the comp in terms of being in demand or rumours regarding their ability ala Caracella, Lade etc. Oh and the coaching level program is another.

Hawthorn certainly haven’t rebuilt at all. Their average age today was 26 years and nine months. To put things in perspective no other team in the competition this week fielded a team with an average age above 26.

Our average age today was 23 years and 6 months. That was the youngest team out there this week. This shouldn’t a be a reason for optimism imo. Most good teams are 18 to 24 months older than us on average. It’s going to be a long time until we can maintain an average age of around the 25 years mark tbh.

Come on mate. I mean it doesn't take a genius to work out that the guys in charge of our forward line and midfield (particularly centre bounces) didn't exactly cover themselves in glory today (and over the last 3 years).

And we're 'stuck' as a bottom 6 team. We're even further away from being a top 4 team.

I don't see them improving over the next 3 or 4 years, and in 2 years they will look like Geelong do this year. They will have 5 or 6 A graders, no depth and will drop down once they lose them.

Where does Blumfield coach? I've never heard anything good or bad about him.

Have you actually watched them being coached during training?

I know you are referring to me with that post.

If you read the post properly you would see how I have noticed a completely different shift in coaching in recent years. People wouldn't know if they have never watched Freo train since RLs inception as I have done.

The strategies and the intensity isn't the same. That's a fact. If you can prove otherwise go ahead

I have a strong opinion and I can back it up. Can you say other than guessing that Rock and other assistants are doing a great job?
