If you think a highlights reel of one of our best ever victories isn't anything of substance, then what can I tell you?
Some fans on here truly Year-Zeroed everything about the club before Ross joined.
Our last rebuild was better and what helped set us up to make the GF in 2013. That's the point. People on here are happy with the current rebuild because it's called a rebuild, and any criticism won't be entered into because "it's a rebuild". Are there good or bad rebuilds? Is this rebuild more like the Fremantle 2010 rebuild (or the Hawthorn 2004-07 rebuild)?
Or is it more like a Carlton, St Kilda, Melbourne and Brisbane rebuild?
This rebuild could see us win a GF. Who knows? All you're doing is spewing shit based on your own person projections while having extremely limited information. You have absolutely no idea how this rebuild is going to turn out. No one does. To say the last one was better is completely ridiculous.

Cuddles not making the finals in either 04 or 05 with the team we had back then was a massive waste. Still shits me.
Quite the strategist as well - understands tanking better than most.

They ended up having a player only meeting away from the club. They went against his playing instructions and ended up making a prelim

Connolly was tactically innovative but the team was too inconsistent and flakey, and it never seemed like the players respected him. Whatever you think about Ross tactically, he's still better than most coaches, and it's clear he has the respect of his players.
Go back and look at the team we had then, you can't tell me any coach worth his salt should win 1 out of 4 finals and miss the 8 in 04-5 with it.

There are no patterns that are proven and that includes the rebuild that you're espousing which suggests everything must have fine in 2011 except for those injuries - like we never had any injuries in 2012 or 2013.
You could just as easily say that what happened in 2011 was panning out in a familiar way in terms of past indicators being a guide to the future. Finals 2003, missed finals 2004,2005. Finals 2006 missed finals 2007,2008, 2009. Finals 2010 missed finals 2011...?

I am not a Lyon fan, but to suggest Cuddles (or Harves for that matter) is a better coach than Lyon is delusional. Under Cuddles our best description would be wildly inconsistent. Under Harvey unpredictable bordering on chaotic.
Ross is the best coach we have ever had, he has strong people skills. He gets people on board and gets the best out of them.
But we need a different football style and tactical approach going forward. Just getting 22 blokes motivated enough to throw themselves at the ball isn't going to win us a flag. We need some finesse and strategy.

Urghhh, it's a complete fallacy that Lyon gets the best out of his players. Menegola, De Boer is better at GWS, S Hill is nowhere near the player he should be, look at almost all of our forwards who decline. That view is only held because of his tendency to select role players.

Not sure about Hill. He was playing his best footy under Lyon. His 2013 was massive. He has been very good in other years however he has dropped off. I think injuries are taking their toll.
He has done better at it than Harves or Cuddles.
I think it goes back to footy style. S Hill should have licence to take shots at goal from 50 on the run, and to bounce and carry to ball to 50 if he needs to.

What? Stephen Hill? He's injury prone that's all, any niggle seems to put him right off his game and coincidentally he's had his best years when our midfield is fit and firing. Menegola had his opportunities, he was also injured quite a bit and I believe the man himself admitted he wasn't as dedicated as he should have been. MDB is a different story, we moved him on because we didn't need role players anymore and what player wouldn't be better going to GWS where all those No.1 picks are running around?
