Why?

They have no future with this club...or any other in all probability. Better off developing the kids and starting again next season.

Half the problem we have in developing kids is we play then for a week or two and then drop them when they don't instantly adjust to AFL level then keep playing the plodders who have zero scope for improvement. Their day has past and its not coming back no matter how many time you play them. All they're doing now is disrupting the development of players with a future
1) why we need to see kids to get slaughter at the bottom of the ladder against Adelaide.
2) take all the bad blood out at home match.
3) if kids lost so many time can become a block in mindset.

Answer my question then

Why play guys we know have no future with the club? Players like Weller, Langdon, Grey are already showing more.

edit: hanging on to the plodders has led us to today. If you think it can't worse, keep playing those with no future and we can be the next Melbourne

Trade:
• Sheridan & Crozier: if not 0, then almost no development since their first games. The sort of guys who will forever be 'nearly there' until you realise they're 26.
• Hill: the guy has no confidence, no ability to hit a tackle, and goes missing. People have a hard on for him but ultimately he is about 25 and needs to step up and be a leader. He's been a no show for too many games and it's not good enough.
• Ballas: I love the guy a lot but ultimately, his deer in the headlights 'performance' in the 2013 Grand Final has rendered him officially spent. He is not the player he once was, and at this age, never will be.
• Mayne: not worth a lot alone, but he's unfortunately never ever going to get to the form he was in a few years ago. He's a sort of pointless footballer, unfortunately.
• Barlow: should have done it last year. A great person, a talented footballer at his apex, but he's going missing so much and he's a meaningless footballer these days. Unfortunate but true.

Delist
• Taberner
• Mzungu
• DeBoer
• Suban
• Clarke. I have never seen anyone with less respect for a club, or the sport. He wanders around the ground, has no idea on how to engage space, lead, or follow up on second efforts. A truly heartless wonder
• Griff: Love the guy but his time is up. He was never liked by Lyon and his best years have been taken from him
• Spurr: People change. You need to continually improve to improve, and he's at the stage where we've seen his best. Grey is far superior, with more upside, and more years
Absolutely savage. Love it. Spot on

We are in a period of transition, but we will come out the other side. The main thing for me is we are playing the kids, I hope we stay the course.

I did have one scary thought though, tabturnover might be worse than shoenclanger.

I thought our biggest weakness was kpps, now bizarrely it seems to be half backs, the only position we recruit for. Ah well, we still have a good midfield to build around.

I want them to play at home ground, not away against Adelaide. Is more than game style problem.

Been trying not to melt all year, but today had it all, poor skills, poor talk, injuries, losing at home to Carlton.......in a world of hurt. We surely must play the kids and possibly let pav and Sandi retire ASAP to save their legacy and their bodies after years of service.

I know this is the melt thread, but god you are so full of it. Ballas was spent after 2013 GF? He made AA the next year you peanut.
Hill was our best today and our midfield would be a hell of a lot worse without him
Dont even bother with this pseudo docker fan. Long term troll and probably an egirl.

Playing one debutant and three guys who have been with us for three seasons is barely 'playing the kids.' Croz and Sheridan are not kids anymore. And that is sort of their issue – forever will they be considered and patronised as kids, when in actuality they're far beyond that stage.

Problems everywhere at the moment. Only way we will get out of this is hard work. Taberner confirmed his delisting at the end of year when he missed two kicks in d50 then kicked out on the full. Grey, Weller and Tucker are positives especially Tucker. Any proper freo supporter has been through worse than this, stick fat lads it can only get better from here.

To use Ross Lyon exact words " I never get fooled by talent "

We got so close to winning the big dance that we concentrated on bringing in quick fixes, gumbelton, Silvia, IMO even D Pearce, this year Yarran who could've been a good pick but has not played yet and who knows why, so we also continued to play senior player just because we were winning. What this has done is stagnated the growth of all behind.
This all was all good when we were fitter than all teams and we could close them down. Now the the football talent is required due to limited interchange we are struggling, an accurate kick, hand ball is always quicker than a good runner exspecially now it's back to more one on one. Some of our last drafts have got some good young guys coming in, but we having to play them all to gether instead of already being blooded over the last few seasons. A classic example Is tabs, elete runner but poor footballer.
So back to my original comment Bondy, Ross and the recruiting team have looked for the wrong players without seeing where the game was going. Talent is now required.
Rant over.

Oh don't get me started on Yarran.

I mean sure he paid his dues but seven years in prison or whatever, questions being asked.

But at 27 and missing half the season, including the all-important first AFL pre-season, he realistically won't debut until he's 28. Seriously, what is the point of picking up someone like him? Especially in the main draft?!

Except Barlow was our best player today. Disposal was much better and the one midfielder trying his guts out.

Yep I was calling for him to be dropped but I dip my lid to him today, 32 disposals at 75%!and 14 tackles.

All of these guys cost us nothing, and were the only players available. That's why we got them. It hasn't hurt us at all getting any of them. What's hurt us is the inability to secure a key forward and the failure of our drafting from 2009 onwards.

We are a very average side when missing Sandi, Mundy and Fyfe and not having Bennell out there. Time to test our whole list and look to who will feature in 2017. Anyway let's see what Lyon can do and try and win a few games on the way.

I agree with most of what you say, disagree with some parts.

But do you think we should do this all in one hit? Or stagger it over the years?

I think the club totally misjudged where we were at, hence why they picked up Yarran and got Pav to play on. I guess it's fair enough considering we finished top last year and should have knocked off Hawthorn in the prelim. But yeah, they have got it badly wrong...

If you go to wafl , or training suban and co join as a pack will continue to do so. I don't see how you can solve the problem. I presume St kilda much easy because Ross left them. It will be very hard for Ross to tell them sorry footsoldiers you are no longer require.

It stopped us playing younger players, even in the seconds it's taking game and learning time from them and I wish I earned the nothing silvia got payed.
