To be fair most of the footy world will be surprised by how bad we're this year. Some pundits predicted us to fall but I doubt they'd have thought by this much.

But yeah there's a lot of delusional, rose-tinted-glasses posters around here who seem to think the club & revered leader Lyon can do no wrong. Mistakes are positives in their language and if you dare divert from this narrative, even if it's fair criticism, you're subjected to personal attacks & shaming.

The reality is we misjudged the direction the game is heading in and we don't have the personnel to compete in the modern game.
Our list is ridiculously imbalanced, riddled with long-term, seemingly immovable plodders & our gameplan is suspect. That's reality. Don't like it? Too bad. Being realistic doesn't make you cynical or a West Coast Eagles mole.

We screwed up with our game plan. We are doing what the Hawks were doing last year, and the game has simply evolved. Adelaide play with 4 wingers apparently so they can have extra run through the middle. That's where the game has gone: Hard running out of the backline with accurate kicking.

Just got home from work.

Would like to thank Matt Crabener for touching the ball on the goal line.

Had to listen to WC supporters sing the Carlton song over and over.

Can someone deport D. Pearce back to Adelaide.

And aren't we good at that?

I'm not sure what you are saying here, but I'll elaborate further: When we are moving the ball from centre-back we are taking too much time. We are too slow, and teams are able to setup defensively to stop it. It wouldn't be so bad if we had the foot skills, but we can't hit targets and the opposition gets a repeat entry.

Is this making sense for people?

But bulldog do it with handball also if kicking option is limited by opposition.

Maynes set shot on goal sailed right through the middle when there was nothing to lose.

Is he trolling us?

..and it was dead through the centre as well. A real bullet shot.

Def trolls for the lols.

I don't know about the dogs, but Adelaide just run. The hard running game plan can be countered in my opinion by flooding, and then we will have come full-circle.

Whoo, my first melt!

Why the **** would we trade our 2016 second rounder? What was the friggin point of that? Seriously? We need to rebuild now and we've lost an earlyish pick. Well done lads.

I HATE these kinds of supports but seriously just wanted to scream "kick the f****** thing!" so many times.

Our drafting is woeful. Last year our list seemed crammed full of exciting youngsters. Then we delisted Moller, Ballard, Duffy (understandable tbh) and all of a sudden the reserves are bare of anyone decent to bring in. Nothing about Nyhuis or Deluca excites me, we picked up Vandaleur and Wood as speculative rookie picks years ago and we couldn't throw one Marcus Adams' way? Or any of the McGoverns? Nah, better rookie Tanner Smith. Oh my god.

How the shit did Brady not get games last year? Was he injured? Could we not even bring him in as a sub when we still had that rule? One of the few blokes showing any heart out there. Good god.

At least I'm shitfaced right now.

I don't think you can flood also, deliberate rush behind , and out is in the new rule also. we need to take the game on by hand or by foot under pressure . inviting a WAfL team once in a week for match simulation will be good.

I'm trying to tell myself that "new gameplan" is code for tanking just so I can sleep at night.

How the hell can a new gameplan suddenly prevent our players from hitting targets by hand and foot? Its not even a new phenomenon. I've been saying it for several years even when were were going well.

Lyon must accept full responsibility for that. He's had these guys long enough and was training and selecting on hard running and effort, not on footballing skills and decision making. Now that we suddenly need both skills and decision making, we can suddenly see how bare our cupboard really is.

Even getting McCarthy and Hogan will not make us contenders again. We need to change our focus and get rid of players who no longer have a future.

While its painful, guys like Mzungu, Suban, Ibbo have to be first in line to be moved on. Second line is Clarke, Pearces C & D and probably Griffin. We need and have needed to draft KPD and KPFs and we haven't done that well enough.

Tabs can still make it. He shows enough to see that continued game time will get him there. Hannath, not so much. Pearce A is another keeper. The major problem is our youngsters are showing more dash and skill that most of out regulars and thats an indictment on our coaches. Now we will see if Lyon can resolve these issues and build a list. I cewrtainly hope he can or we will be non-contenders for most of the next decade, mainly because we have drafted and recruited rather poorly and that needs to addressed this year as well.

Well the other way to counter is to play a hard-running game style as well.

We need to consider the fact that we may go 0-9 this year.

If you go to wafl , or training suban and co join as a pack will continue to do so. I don't see how you can solve the problem. I presume St kilda much easy because Ross left them. It will be very hard for Ross to tell them sorry footsoldiers you are no longer require.
its an interesting point Lyon makes in the presser where he said he needs to balance just bringing new blood in when we're playing so poorly... In essence it may breed bad habits and a lasting mentality (melbourne comes to mind)..for mine he has no choice...he'll be left with kids exposed next year, maybe not land the trades or draft choices you want and have a list that really don't have the spread of skilled ball users or speed of other developing or developed teams to play the way footy is going this year. This is not good.
