Hill is playing like he's in his 30's, playing a lot slower and his skills/decision have become poor. I can't remember the last time he's genuinely took the game on, he should be a 70 metre player for us. It's the same with Jetta and a few other quick players, it's like the football system eventually breaks you down.

Hill also should never play on the inside, for a guy that's super quick he lacks some serious power. We need Hill trying less to play like Simon Black and more like Michael Long.

I think Hill has bulked up to much at the expense of a yard of pace. He therefore doesn't have as much space as previously resulted in poorer kicking

Suffers from what Pavlich did. Bulked up quick and tried to add more to his game at the expense of his weapons. Think Hill need to lean out and lose 2-3 kilo of that excess baggage then he would be faster etc. Bennell is an example- he looks like a beast yet lean and strong

Just our luck...we finally get the best player in the comp and he breaks his leg...twice....after already having a shoulder reco.

We're fcuking cursed

On the bright side, this is a relatively good time to do it. Give him a long recovery and get him ready for 2017.

We're not cursed and will achieve the success we all want, just not this year.

Watching today's game was like watching under 12's. Just scrap after scrap, contest after contest, the whole team sometimes within 30m of the ball. No running into space to provide options when we had the ball, no class, just hack kicks forward or just poor disposals leading to scraps.

lol - I read this and thought about my under 10s team from decades ago. I remember one of the coaches pleading from the boundary "stay in your positions!" as a swarm of kids moved around the ground with the ball. Shows what he knew, we were clearly visionaries playing a type of football years before its time.

Players like Hill don't turn into spuds over a pre-season. There are multiple factors which have contributed to our 0-5 start.

It seems this pre -season was a waste of time as all players seem to have gone backwards in their development.

What sort of value would ballantyne have at the trade table?
Hardly any I would have thought....Maybe some back in 2013-14, bugger all now :(
I hate to even say this, but if we are going down the trade route, then Neale is the obvious choice...

Yes, as stated on here by someone else previously, very hard to change or de Lyon a system over one preseason, we turned our good players into robots.

Wonder if richmond would be thick enough to give a second rounder haha.

Cant get rid of Neale. I hope we dont anyway

I would hate to lose Neale too....but in the scheme of things he is the only logical trade...Assuming that Harley is fit and firing for 2017, he covers Neale, as does a Weller or a Langdon. He is probably the only real player that would be genuine trade bait for a decent KPF and his type of player we at least would have some way of covering his loss....Lets face it, there are not to many players on our list (other than Fyfe, Walters or Neale) that other sides would be falling over themselves to trade for. Of those 3, Neale is the most expendable...Sad but true :(!!

Hill would have solid currency too IMO

What do you think roughly what Neales value on the trade table would be?
Treloar was worth 2 first rounders (likley to be 2 top 10 picks) and I rate Lachie higher

I think the best we can get is 2 first rounders.

His value really is whatever it takes to get us someone like McCarthy....

Of course, but the form of Hill is one of them. In a year in which our skills have turned completely to shit, there's at least a dozen players that have contributed to that. Hill is near the top of that list, especially given he's usually one of our best kicks.

The baffling thing about it all is that the noise made by the club in the pre-season was that skills were a major focus.
