Definitely a game plan in transition. Trying to be more attacking but Not sure we have the cattle to play the fast game the best sides are now playing.

I think 1st round draft picks like Pitt , Simpson and Crozier to date failing to have an impact for their various reasons is starting to leave us down on talent.

The worst part is I don't even really care that we lost, I'm almost happy. We are going nowhere with the current group who have had their chance, but ultimately couldn't get the job done.

Rebuild. Would be nice to trade out some senior players, but we've held onto them so long they now have no currency which is a shame.

We won't win a flag by relying on Silva and Tabs etc.... C.Pearce is a shocker, so I reckon we replace with Tucker.

I can't help but feel that with Bennell in the side we will be a different side. The kid is such a ****ing jet, it still boggles my mind that we got him for a packet of chips.

Probably.
Likely (but not guaranteed) to be 0 and 4. Hard to get back from there.

Having said that, the team was a lot better than round 1. We should be able to pick out scapegoats more easily after that game, because at least the effort was there and our stars performed well.
I still have some faith that the new attacking game plan will kick in soon, cos it's clear that some players can't yet manage it.

If we're 0-4 in 2 weeks time, I sincerely hope the kids are played, game plan is tinkered with and practiced and we finish bottom 4 with a nice pick coming our way in 2017.

Clancee kept his efficiency stats up by passing to another player close by and putting them in trouble. When he was quick, it was because he panicked and tried to make the ball someone else's problem. When he was slow he telegraphed what he was going to do and the opposition intercepted his passes.
(How's that for a melt?)
Bring in de Boer. Tough as teak, knows his limitations with kicking, good handballer, and one of the smartest footballers going around - will be able to adapt to the new game plan without looking like a stunned mullet.

I know that sometimes Ross's pressers should be taken with a pinch of salt, but he was quite candid about our lack of leg speed currently to implement a new system, which they are looking to re-jig. Definitely a game plan in transition.

Yeah I bet he is sick of the injuries to the players that can make a difference to the new game plan. Players like Yarran, Bennell, Mora and Apeness need to get on the field to improve the squad but just can't seem to get there.

Yeah he was pretty upfront about that. I hope he keeps the faith too.

I think back to RTB's first season as Freo coach, took a good 8-10 games to get the new game plan embedded. There were some shocking games in that period we were calling for heads. Don't panic guys, I expect something similar before it all clicks into gear. We will obviously need to find the correct player and positional mix to optimise the output.

If it's half way through the season and we are still looking like garbage then I will lead the revolt!

Yeah too early to go getting yourselves all upset. Personally I find the caning of our players more upsetting than a loss. Most got what they wanted with the introduction of youth into the team and there's more to come, plus bennel and morabito to help in selected games. Starting the season slowly and building, seems like a strategy to me after the burn out last season.

When we've had 3 games out of him by seasons end due to recurring lower leg issues, it all make sense.

The replacement for Clancee will be Morabito. A massively better player.
For our changed up game style, Harley has everything needed and when we add Mora To the side we will be unrecognisable.

I would expect one change next week . We know where we want to go and have what we need to get there .
