As someone who started following in 2001, I can safely say that we are in much, MUCH better shape than in those days.

In fairness to the club, the AFL's treatment of Fremantle was appalling.
Not one concession, no financial assistance, nothing.

I remember climbing rickety timber stairs to our office attached to the back of a wool store in Mouat Street in 1995.
We were forced to train at local school grounds in our early years.
I remember taking part in protest rally with Scott Chisholm when they tried to force us to be the lapdog of eagles in a ground sharing arrangement at Subiaco.
And after all that after finally securing enough donations to build our own clubhouse at Freo Oval, we then had to contend with a troupe of ****ing heritage nutcases dictating we couldn't spoil the view from the prison. This ultimately led to the club now exiting a totally inadequate Freo oval site and moving to Cockburn. About the only good thing that has happened for us.

Of course all this early hardship was borne out in poor onfield performance.

Then the ultimate indignity we had to put up with a corrupt Greek campaigner coming over and telling us we are a basket case and we should fold if we don't get our act together. Not quite like the millions yearly paid to North and Bulldogs and Melbourne to keep them afloat.

So we really need to keep things in perspective.
Oh, and the other massive interference in our affairs by the ****ing! fat Greek campaigner, the AFL in fact imposed Damien Drum on us. They demanded we appoint him to make us a more competitive team.

No, they're not sacred cows - by all means, criticize them - but the tone of some posts and the nitpicking is just uncalled for. I get that it's cathartic for people to butcher their escaped goat (most with good reason, probably) over and over again, but it's just so hard to read and it just makes this place a morose and an unpleasant place to be.
Spot on Grape Bear. If you look closely most supporters do support - sure we have a whinge and criticize at times but the underlying theme is that we love our club. We might be cranky at player A or player B (whoever happens to be the current scapegoat) but we do not call them spuds, useless, waste of space etc.

There are a handful of guys who come onto our board ONLY when we are losing and gloat about how clever they were in predicting we were going to be crap. Or, when their favourite scapegoat has a bad game they can't help themselves crowing it from the rooftops. See, I was right!!! I am SO CLEVER!!!

I value opinions of everyone, positive or negative, provided they are given in the right spirit. I don't mind opposition posters coming on our boards and giving opinions providing they are not trolling. For some reason opposition trolls are usually shown the door quite quickly but our own "supporters" can freely troll and drive good posters from our boards with relative impunity. For me, a troll is a troll is a troll, and quite honestly I would rather an opposition troll who freely admits they hate Fremantle than some of the absolute flogs who come on here (or the main board) under the pretense of being Fremantle supporters then proceed to criticize everything about the club.

I have been with Freo every step of the way and I am with you 100% GB.

To be fair to those guys that do that, a lot of them were treated very poorly last year by some of the glass half full types and had their opinions dismissed and were labelled west coast supporters as we were winning games/top of the ladder.

So I can sort of see why they would get some satisfaction gloating that they were right, I'm sure deep down though no supporter is enjoying the brand of football we are dishing up at the moment.

Yes agree.
The key principle here is fair and balanced.
You can criticize, but you must also give credit when it's due. If you think D Pearce is crap the last few games, go ahead and call him out. But if he plays well the next few, you have to give him the necessary praise as well. It's unfair if you only criticize when he does poorly, and kept silent when he is good. If you are quick to criticize, you must be equally quick to credit.

I do not think Ross is beyond reproach as well. But where are his critics the week we won the minor premiership? Where's the 'I disagree with your approach but seems you did ok' posts? Now you turn out in droves to kick him when he is down? Claiming you are vindicated?! Sorry, but if you are not balanced in your comments you are not clever critic, you are just an angry person on the Internet.

Mudd, I quoted your post, but I am not directing the comments against you. You are ok :-)
I just want to get this off my chest as well.

How is it possible we made one change , im feeling angry i feel sick of ross lyon but feel that somehow he will still be coaching in 2025

Agreed. I had a go at the wrong poster, just too many to keep track.

Funny how they've all crawled out at the lowest point we've been since the latter half of 2012. There are now a lot of very lonely rocks looking for the creatures previously keeping them company. If only they would all go back under them.

Was there in the horror days and only dreamed we were as successful in the last few years. These two games do not go anywhere near sitting through a season sitting in the wind and the rain and getting pumped by the opposition night in night out. I remember one home win against Geelong of all teams and I was not there to see it but overseas. Not going right so far but can see the vision of where we're headed. Call me a false prophet if you will but we will one day head to the promised land.

Not to mention we only had half the salary cap. We were set up to fail. Bastards

Nah. Ross Lyon is the worst thing ever and I, like all these totally reasonable complainants, believe we should be rebuilding. I say we do it under Harvey. Lets take back this club and restore it to its former glor.....

Ohhhhh... right.

Ross is the only one who bought us sustained success under a supremely professional team ethic. Maybe that's why our club gave him 5 years of job security ;) They know more than you. They solely orchestrated this period of success with the big piece, the Ross appointment. Yeah.

Everything you write is reverse SA. its almost as annoying. you black and white people are frustrating to read.

For some melt context, check out the Demon's autopsy thread from last week. Wow.

That board is a very sad place.... I really feel for them..

Imagine when they lose Hogan ;);)

**** you Natanui.

Mzungu should be forced to play multiple good WAFL games before coming back. Was one of the most underrated players in the AFL two years ago, now hes shite and that's putting it nicely. We need a small defender, Spudcliffe is useless and shouldn't be best 22.
