Tabs, Grey, Tucker, Croz sounds like they could all be a shot.

Griff or Hannath is going to be our main ruckman for a few weeks... That should be fun.

At 0-3, likely to be 0-4, older players like Mzungu need to make way for youth. It's a long way back from here and even if we find some form and male the 8, we'll just be making up numbers and are no genuine chance.

Focus on 2017. Hang tough with the game plan and take the pain this year for a good shot at next year.

What really shits me is that we got next to nothing out of the usual suspects last year either. If we had played the kids instead of them, we still would have finished on top and would be in a much better position now with a bunch of young players with 10-15 games under their belt.
This. I think we should have started introducing youth GRADUALLY at the start of 2014. Expecting the plodders to somehow morph into quality players is pretty dumb IMHO.

Hannath need to be with peel reserve , give clarke (70%), uebergang (15%) and collins(15 %) game time to ruck for peel.As for Tab you can do whatever you want with him I am done and dusted with him whether for freo or peel.

I think what people are forgetting is that we didn't have a lot to bring in in 2014. Should we have taken out Dawson for Smith? Duffy, who's no longer even if the AFL? Simpson, whose body was also not AFL ready?

Last year, I agree, maybe we should have given more game time to the 3 amigos, or given Grey a spin. Pearce got games, Tabs got games, but Apeness was injured and has been injured for the last two years. The difficulty, as previously said, is that it is hard to cut people from a winning team because clearly they are not only giving great effort, but they are also delivering. It's a fine balance.

I think that is it in a nutshell. Ross has always said this is a results driven business and up till now we have been getting results, finishing top 4 or thereabouts.
He separates the season into home and away and finals and his only agenda has been to finish the H&A as high as possible which he's done.
Now that the wheels are falling off he's gone straight away to acknowledging its not working and things have to change.

Whilst I have been critical in the past of his inflexible selection policy you can at least see the sense in it and I'm impressed with his response to how we are going this year.
Times they are a changing.

Its interesting, in hindsight what may look far worse than Lyon's policies is the draft teams insistence on sticking to their rankings on draft day and not pulling the trigger on the McGovern kids when we had the chance. Imagine one of them at either end, they have the temperament of match winners. I don't understand how professionals couldn't pick that when they were under our noses.

I really hope you nutters that ring 6PR and stuff dont start the sack Ross stuff. The media is going to go hard soon I feel. Please start the sack Bond narrative.

Spudcliffe is useless and shouldn't be best 22.
Would help if he wasn't forced to match up on darling. Not big enough for that contest. Not sure a small defender is going to help there! His kicking and confidence seems to have gone backwards though... I had (have?) high hopes for him.

It's the perfect storm. Poor drafting. 4 x 1st round picks failing due to injury attitude and illness. Even our free agents haven't quite worked out. And rosses inability to transition older players. Crap. Even bennel playing would improve the side big time. I still trust ross in making the team play to the best of there ability. He is motivator and a perfectionist.

Yeah totally. The grass isnt always greener. This is a new challenge for him and he needs a chance to fail before being written off. Our recruiting is our weakness, though even there i feel our last draftees are really promising. Maybe Croz may work out or atleast increase his value this season. Some brave decisions need to be made next off season and maybe a trading coup like the Lyon get might be in order.

Anger, frustration and sadness!!

If a week is a long time in football, a year is longer!

We've gone from an absolute 'unstoppable' team this time last year...to a team which looks like it can hardly win a game. wow!

The fall from the top hurts hard! You can't deny the parallels between Freo and St Kilda 2011.

It'll be interesting to see where we go from here. But most teams do fall slightly before taking another shot (Geelong or Eagles 2013, 2014, 2015 GF).

Remember to enjoy football for what it is and not only because your team wins.

If we can be 6-6 by round 12 then all is not lost to me.

Would be refreshing to see! If we can get games and development into them and confidence starts to build then the season will start to get exciting.

Or it could demoralise young players who have their first proper season playing in the worst performing freo side in 6 years and KNOW the fact they aren't up to par AFL standard is why.

We don't want to become Brisbane. A constantly losing side with "young talent" as the only selling point.

We are following the Geelong model of build as you go. Drop only a season!

With our mids and senior players of bringing in those guys causes us to drop past the 12th position by seasons end then we either had major injuries or there is more wrong than we want to admit.

What gets me is when Sandilands went down why didn't we start sharking Nic's taps? Brisbane were able to do that effectively, so why couldn't we?

The comp is also deliberately contrived to be very even, with a shrinking margin between the best and the next.
Any club and coach that gets close to the grail has got an enormous amount right.
It's a serious Everest to conquer.
Being Melbourne based or having salary cap concession is a much underestimated advantage.
Some armchair critics would do well to acknowledge that the 'string-bag' and club are going all right!

Completely agree, though his kicking has been so poor. It's a shame hes main threat from Peel is Grey, because he too can't hit a target.

Eh being beaten into submission from our poor skills I feel. Must be hard for the guys who seem to be a proud bunch of footballers. Turnovers killing us because we're taking the game on. What was it, 77+ points scored from turnovers in NM game, horrible! We're moving slowly to better football I think...it's just a hard freaking fall from minor premiers to last...

this fall from grace hurts so hard couldnt imagine if i lived in perth and those dam budgies giving me the shits, thankfully in melbourne its easier to shift whats going on onto other shitter teams like carlton

Can think of Fyfe to Pav last qtr, Pav to Walters & DPearce to Pav all kicks into the 50 that should've resulted in shots on goal but didn't. Another in the first qtr to Pav where he ended up so ceding it for a point should've been better.

Hill spilt a mark which I think cost us a goal and isn't as silky as he has been but he is quality and will get there.

Our effort is there, I think the game plan is sound, the skills have hurt us.

So many awful, embarrassing turnovers this season. The thing that stood out to me today is the amount that we hesitate with ball in hand.
I hope we can fix this because we are actually a pretty good team in a lot of other areas.

Just got to work and me being the only Freo supporter copped it from all angles. About 15 people sort me out to have a good laugh at Freo. ****ing campaigners.

Tell them all to **** off.
I told a few when i got to work tonight to be careful how much crap you give me. It all comes roundabouts one way or another. We're down but not out and we have some seriously good players to come back in.

My friends know better than to mention anything football related to me these days. Of course they're all bandwagoning Budgie supporters.

Absolute worst was when I had to work on a Saturday morning hungover with a smug Essendon supporter after the 2003 EF.
