Hill is playing like he's in his 30's, playing a lot slower and his skills/decision have become poor. I can't remember the last time he's genuinely took the game on, he should be a 70 metre player for us. It's the same with Jetta and a few other quick players, it's like the football system eventually breaks you down.

Hill also should never play on the inside, for a guy that's super quick he lacks some serious power. We need Hill trying less to play like Simon Black and more like Michael Long.
Just back off my buddy....back the F off!....you.....all of you...ALL OF YOU...

His value really is whatever it takes to get us someone like McCarthy....

Can't believe that we are contemplating trading our young talent. How many guys show plenty of talent in the draft or even in their first few AFL games which never translates into being consistent performers? Very few. We should be building our future best 22 around proven young talent:

  • Fyfe, Neale, Bennell and Hill in the middle and hoping that emerging talent like Tucker, Blakely, Weller, Balic etc make it.
  • A Pearce, Sheridan and Sutcliffe in the back and hoping that guys like Morabito, Langdon, Grey, Collins, Hughes and Hurley keep improving and we can trade or draft some other KPDs to fill the gaps on our list.
  • Walters and hope players like Crozier, Apeness, Taberner, Yarran make it to become consistent quality AFL players and we can trade/draft some quality KPFs to fill the gaps on our list.

Ballantyne had been the least of our problems to be frank and yesterday he was brave to carry on at all after getting hammered twice in the first ten minutes.

He chased even though his legs weren't working....limping as he ran after them from one side to the other...

If half the team had his attitude we may have got over the line

Ballas is not the least of our problems (nor is he the biggest problem), he is one many. He will never get the same treatment from the umps (rightly our wrongly) as someone like Murphy because he has a (well desvered) reputation as someone who dishes out cheapshots. He has to know that and modify his behaviour or he will continue to be on the receiving end (of both poor umpiring decisions and receiving cheapshots himself).
He should look at the end of Jeff Farmers carear because unless he modifies he is going the same way.

there a lot of hope in your post. at least half of those names wont make it for various reasons. we dont have many of our next premiership push best 22 imo. im fine with that as well. the skinny halfback flanker joke isnt so funny now.

Those players aren't showing more though... You mean to say for their development stage they are showing a lot of promise. If they were showing more we would win the games that have all those players in it! While losing the games with DeBoer and Suban, D.Pearce and C.Pearce etc. We're losing no matter this year, but I say we are getting closer to competitive vs better sides with those well drilled, experienced core from the 2013/14 side.

I also think you are underestimating the effect of a season of losses on the club as a whole. If you "got rid of the plodders" as is so popular on these boards this year, and played Blakely, Tucker, Weller, Crozier, Pearce, Tabener, Hughes, Langdon, Grey; in their place, guaranteed, each week for 10 weeks? You would only guarantee 10 straight, horrible losses. Foolhearty logic making way for mental scars on our youth. Create panic and instability in the side. Create divisions inside the playergroup with your contempt for those who got your club a minor premiership 12 months earlier! There's already enough scuttlebutt being talked externally - Let's not become a team with Nathan Buckley type stories. Boring!

It is not necessary to gift 10 players <23 a full year together in one season. Why breed a losing culture? No premiership side has acted that way. I don't care how exciting bulldogs football is, its untested season after season in preliminary final air. We have built sustained success, a winning culture in the past 4 seasons and need to see this gameplan in effect first, while balance regenerating (not rebuilding) our list like all other smart teams.

We are in agreement. Let's not become Melbourne... We just have different schools of thought why we would become Melbourne and teams like Brisbane/Carlton!

Ross has alluded to this already.
Don't worry, he is going to bring in young players gradually.

Did Ballas get a free kick for the neck rape in that marking attempt? It was first quarter and Pav ran into the goals and his dribble kick hit the post.

Yes and they paid advantage.

He also picked up a massive cork in the hamstring for his trouble

definitely going to have a top 5 draft pick this year, maybe we wont finish last but we will definitely be bottom 4 this year

Maynes set shot on goal sailed right through the middle when there was nothing to lose.

Is he trolling us?

Ultimate troll will be if the difference between, say, the #1 and #2 pick is 0.01% and we miss out because of dead eye Chris

It depends on what his new contract is. Supposedly it's all objective, but for some reason they won't publicly release the compo formula.
So if he gets say 400 a year for 3 it could potentially net us a 2nd round compo? Please richmond
