I blame the AFL for scheduling this game in the morning time slot. We never do well in these games, and the AFL know it.

I'm not one to join the ranting but why did he get another game (Danyle that is). He was terrible last week. I know we're getting short on players but surely Nyhuis is worth getting games into.

My observation of Pearce at Peel is that he is cooked and not even interested.

The only thing I can think of is to make it completely obvious to Danyle that he is done at AFL level and to come to a mutually agreeable settlement/ retirement. If he refuses to retire, delist and move him to Rookie list to play out his final year at Peel. His time is done.

It's the same insipid shit. Week in week out. Half arsed efforts and the same crap from a bunch of losers that don't have the skills or brains to deliver when it counts. And don't even get me started on the dockers.

It's nearly 24hrs later, and I'm still hurting. Season worst loss, a season where Gold Coast (and Brisbane early) have been consistently uncompetitive. Three points.

1) I still can't fathom how we get spanked with the midfield we had. A loss, expected. 100pt loss with a proven and experienced midfield shouldn't happen.

2) I have big concerns about our coaching panel. We have a good senior coach, but underneath is light on experience to say the least. If we are rebuilding, shouldn't there be more experience across the coaching lines to help the players. It struck me this week that if Lyon left/ got sacked/ hit by a bus, who is next in line? This is not a good place to be.

3) After yesterday's cluster of a first quarter, Ross gave a quick Vox pop about the state of affairs. He said words to the effect that it was going pear shaped because we didn't bring attitude and effort and "you can't coach that". I beg to differ, if coaches can't get effort and attitude out of their players they are in deep trouble. I'm not laying this at Ross, but refer to point 2.

Been saying it for a year, or since we got rid of Barlow and De Boer prematurely. Several of our mids are not at all great defensively and not accountable enough.

All comes down to nuance. I think there is an element in what he's saying, where you can only fiddle at the edges while the game is in progress, "You can't coach that" - he can't do much until quarter time as a coach and that you are forced to watch the house of cards while it's falling down.

Obviously though, there was a coaching failure where he didn't bring the team to a point prior to bouncedown where they were inclined to give maximum effort, though a coach can only do so much and putting in effort is the players prerogative (though you'd think it worth doing so you don't get dropped to WAFL and miss out on next weeks match payments).

We're one of the worst, if not the worst 1st quarter teams this season. To hear the senior coach effectively shirk the issue (even if it was a throwaway line) made me melt. Hence here I am.

My television is in the naughty corner after yesterday's debacle. It's still upset at how I treated it yesterday and given that it retaliates by refusing to show FTA channels, it belongs in that corner until Game of Thrones tomorrow night.

Pearce played to notch up 100 games for the club - I think that's F/S qualification if you've played for more than one club?

I'd be very surprised if he's still in the team v Richmond. We gave him his token 250th v his old club and his F/S qualification 100th game for Freo. Now send him back to Peel or at the very least (if he has to play) put him on the forward flank where his miskicks will blend in with our other garbage i50 entries and wayward shots on goal
