How did we get outcoached? Arent we simply not good enough and probably have close to the worst forward line in the league?

We used to play exciting footy, score goals, build a lead, and then shut up shop and defend out the rest of the game. Ross is calling that transition too early these days , like Thursday nights.

Game day is pure emotive

Checked the first link and not one poster had mentioned delisting him.

Every link in my post links directly to a post discussing delisting him. Not my problem if you can't read. Obviously that's where this misunderstanding stems from.

Honestly I'm just a bit tired of the game-plan/Ross. There's excuses galore and some are probably valid but we've had 3 years (and probably more) of this pathetic football. Change some real things or get out Ross.

same old ross lyon dribble in the press confrence and what really got to me was him saying we will double down and he mentioned it 3 times
FFS same old stubborn ross

Mate I’m sick of the blame being whacked on the forwards..... you must be ...cking joking.
WE DO NOT DELIVER the ball to advantage, whether that’s structure, instruction or skills from coaching - all combined.
I watched the game at the ground as I do every home game and we are terribly unaccountable, that’s coaching and game plan.
Shit..... any forward would struggle in our setup.

We've turned over 22 players in a short time, there is a lot of change.

It's an opinions board and all, so we'll probably hold a different one, but that is massive change and needs time, Ross and no other coach would just take our list to suddenly grand final with that level of change - and more pending with Mundy/Sandi and others exiting as seniors.

I remember hitting 18 and having to mix it with men, all legal adults - but those 26 year olds are so much bigger, know more etc. Even if we were to recruit Clarkson, he isn't doing much until our young uns have a bit more meat on the bones.

Change on field not off it. I agree the list isn't great atm. But as it stands we certainly aren't challenging for 2020. Considering the age of Fyfe I think its absolutely vital we're up and about before he starts declining. If that's the case is it better to stick with whats going on now or try a hail-mary and get in a Bevo/Simpson type who might be able to bring in some new ideas and get us somewhere. Might go wrong but least we would have given it a real shot.

Don't think we've reached that stage just yet though. Just really, really want Ross to drop the oldies, back in the youngsters and change up some structures on field, even just as a token effort for the supporters. Don't know if you go to the games but the anti-Ross sentiment is growing quite fearsome and I really do worry for him.

Melt thread, I should have let you vent, just saw the post and responded.

But as you asked. Not for this thread, but it's worth taking up elsewhere. You want us to back in the youngsters - do you think we can play more young uns than we already are and still be competitive? Game day thread or somewhere more appropriate.

Starting to hear the ‘Ross is going to Carlton’ stuff outside of bigfooty now.

Talking to a bloke at the game today who claims to be friends with Patrick Cripps. Deal is already done and the players all know it.

Certainly explains the going through the motions game I saw today.

Didn't they just extended Bolton to 2020

Has someone told Bolton?

But to be fair I’ve heard outside of BF Ross will leave Freo at years end too. Going to Carlton is new to me.

What shits me is we started the season with really high hopes while across town many including myself said the Weagles would be bottom four.
It just makes our situation seem all the more unbearable when they are overturning a 12 year hoodoo against the Hawks while we struggle to put together something even resembling a forward line.
I have confidence our playing group has the ability, but don’t understand why we fail to be able to respond quickly enough when our game plan comes off the rails.
Is it because we have a lot of younger players or is it that our coaching group are well off how the game is evolving?

Not sure

A good game plan goes a long way to improving players. You put Redden, Masten, LeCras, Cripps in our team and watch how crap they are.

Remember when Ross walked into our club and after half a season players that no-one rated were all of a sudden household names and getting kudos from the Vic media.

Credit to Simpson, he has a game plan that is simple and the players can and want to follow.

Not sure what ours is. 2 goals behind in the last qtr and we are still playing a spare man in defence. Forward forays seem to be chaotic with no reason behind them.

Looks like we're going to be stuck with Lyon for another 2 1/2 years. Just go back to playing the ultra defensive-pressure game. At least we'll be more competitive. Our games of late have been so boring it has been hard to show any emotion either way. I haven't been this bored watching Freo since the Drum years. Even under Harvey we had a pulse.

Looking forward to waving the white flag in the first 5 minutes of next week's game.
