We kicked 3.8 to Carlton's 6.3 in the 2nd half, that was most of the difference.
Hardly. Did you not notice how often they chipped it to unmanned players inside 50? How we bombed it? How they rebounded it out much cleaner? Sure, we were inaccruate, but that half of footy was pretty bad.

I was at the game. Nope. Second half was shit house. Stopped running, slowed it down, how many times did Carlton spot up an easy, unmanned target inside 50? At least 3 times.
So was I.

Piss poor second half. Really disappointing actually.

Was genuinely astonished by the first half, we were incredible but not sure what the players were saving themselves for after half time.

I'm not sure what being at the game proves, I was on my couch and was able to see that we had a poor second half. If not for their horrible skills, it could have been worse.

Its exactly how we are, when was the last time we went on and pumped a team or even won four quarters. It is certainly something we need to work on!

I think panicking about the second half isn't needed. Ross has showed in the past a willingness to slow the game down once we get a good lead. I feel he probably saw the 70 point buffer as a good chance to experiment with other play styles and match situations. We took it a bit easier in the second half and now we roll in to the bye with the list in relatively good health.

I was just to the right of goals, what a boring snoozefest of a game. 1 team with the fire in the belly and the other a bunch of witches hats, then both teams changed roles for the 2nd half.

We are a now a very, very young team. If you get disappointed by not playing well for four quarters then you are going to be disappointed for a fair while. Before anyone says well 'Carlton are just as young' so we should pretty much smash them for four quarters' it might be an idea to realise that our young team played more consistently well than their young team, which is why we comfortably won. It takes some fairly bizarre logic to justify that our result overall doesn't count for much as were playing a young inexperienced team, while at the same time not acknowledging that our team is also very young so an inconsistent performance over games should be expected for a while as well.

You’re a bunch of negative nannies !!.

Blew them away in the first half, job done.

Winners are grinders, the rest can suit themselves.

It is the melt thread, you are not doing it right.

Maybe try some emojis? e.g. "You’re a bunch of negative nannies":mad::mad:

Nah I was rapt with the result, just a little flat we didn't ram home the advantage like we could have. We let them back into it, they were completely cooked by half time, totally dejected and their own fans booing the shit out of them, we could have/should have ****ing destroyed them.

A whole half is junk time?
When the team is up by points 70 at one stage earlier it is and the game is already over at the break.

Sure it would be nice to win by 100 points but at the end of the day but apart from % it doesn't mean much.

When a teams up by 12 goals at half time it is.;)
Sure fellas a win is a win, but we have the bye next week, why ease up?

That percentage could be handy if we get on a run.

This is still the melt thread yeah? ;)

Don't think it was technically an ease up but according to the radio broadcast, Lyon played the young guys on the ball in the second half, Fyfe up forward and on the Bench more. So, pretty smart to take advantage of a dud team to educate the youngsters isn't it? Plus as already stated we had plenty of opportunities but didn't take them.

That's smart coaching

We can melt but the bigger goal is education and experience

No.We had one half where we took all our chances (probably as well as we have for a long time) and another half where we didnt take our chances, while still creating plenty of goal scoring opportunities. That is going to happen with a young team. A team that has been rebuilding for a while, but is still a young side like Carlton is also likely to struggle for significant parts of the game, but still have some good moments in a game. Im pretty sure you'll find a reason for the booing (from Carlton fans for the Carlton performance) was actually because Carlton fans were aware that Fremantle was also rebuilding their list, so they were disappointed at how their team compared to a side with as much youth as their own. It was overall a much better performance by Freo than you are making out.

You should be ashamed of yourself.
