I think up until 3min mark of the last quarter we were fine. We wasted opportunities in the third and then Luke Ryan kicked a goal, his first in AFL footy. The team then partied like it’s 1999. Evidenced by Ryan himself moments after kicking his first ever goal barely bodied up on Wright to allow him a goal and then another a little later.

We definitely checked out early in that last quarter and Carlton cashed in during junk time. Carlton could have scored more. We did the same thing against Collingwood. It was inflamed by the fact that we have the bye and a few days off. Not an excuse just fact. I agree particularly the last seven minutes where they scored 2-goals and a bunch of pts (pulling it back from 71 to 57) was frustrating to watch.

Was (Luke) Ryan on Wright then or was it Nyhuis? Yeah it was loose checking but the midfield pressure was also non-existant at that stage. It's the melt thread so people should be able to melt here if they want... I would have loved us to turn the screws and win by 100+ but I think having some lessons to learn from through the bye will hopefully have them chomping at the bit to not fade out late come the Brisbane game. Hopefully our players are 'simmering'.

How about an #amidoingitright award?
Having a melt award would show people how to do it right [emoji14]

For what it's worth I agreed with what you said earlier about keeping the melts here and keeping the autopsy to those threads.

It's a nice change to not have 35 variations of the same melt thread on the boards though! One week at a time

Don't they realise that old folks with poor eyesight attend matches - sometimes without those newfangled spectacle inventions accidentally left at home next to the kettle...

Ape and Cox, big blokes on the field, same area, close to same build/heads/hair from a distance and the numbers are 35 and 36. Change the numbers or one of them get a friggin purple mohawk or something please!

Should have gone to speck savers

Don’t stop melting on my accord. I had my own melt in the last 7mins. My wife told me off. I’ve agreed with some that we checked out but not until early in the last quarter.

Another melt of my own. I love big Sandi and he will leave one of our greats but it drives me insane when he does those blind massive handballs. Every time it happens it seems to fall into the lap of a line of 3 or 4 opposition, with all our players on the spread to provide an option. I’ve said t before he just needs to hold the arms out/up and spin around or handball backwards to someone with a Freo jumper.

I propose that the safe space that is the positivity thread is opened up to allow equal levels of shit posting that this thread receives from the goo chuggers.

Do folks get upset about that too?

I honestly thought that TheInjuryFactory was having a laugh with his melt.

We had more scoring shots than them in the second half - we didn’t convert.

Simples.
And it "simples" to have full team, perceived pressure, set shot training drills to eliminate the poor set shot misses. I've given an example taken from Australian Basketball.

They do full team goal kicking drills all the time at training. Usually after doing a heap of running to simulate the tiredness in a game. Not sure what you are talking about.

I'm talking about the comments Brennan Cox made in his video interview after rising star nomination, Brandon Matera made in his interviews and even going back to Munday after making the after the siren shot against Richmond saying it was mucking around after training playing "Donkey" that helped him make the shot. I don't know of any full team drills the Dockers do to duplicate game like perceived pressure for set shots. These are ones so Matera, Ballentyne, Brashaw, Fyfe and even Pavlich in a GF wouldn't miss. So what are they?

I go to training they practice set shots under fatigue

They also practice set plays from clearances to convert goals regularly

The players also have their run up, ball drop and kicking action recorded and analysed and any problems worked on . Every player in the comp will have the odd miss kick . Kicking is an imperfect skill with so many mitigating factors . Wind, fatigue, pressure both physical and mental. I think all clubs put a lot of work into kicking but like has been said kicking will never be perfect.

I don't understand the comment 'Freo don't practice goal kicking'

By the way mate I'm injured so can't work and hit me up if you heading to training. I'll have a coffee with you

Yeah I heard they don’t even have goal posts - they’re just called ‘Effort Sticks’.

Dusty getting off is a joke

The system broken at best, corrupt at worst

Once one got of for touching the umpire while demonstrating a question over a free kick, there is little choice but to let all future occurrences off. If the Afl don't like it, they need to tell the players, touch the umpire for any reason and you will go.

Nope, they'll just ping you if they don't like you

I think you overestimate the tribunal's consistency
