Agree that the 2010 to 2016 drafts have been extremely poor, but you could also argue that Ross Lyon hasn't developed the talent, which mirrors the widely held view that he doesn't play or develop youth - the rebuild doesn't count because there's only one way to go about a rebuild.

Our development might be poor, but I don't think it's as bad as our drafting. To draw a comparison, we are as bad now as we were during the Neesham era, but back then a number of our discards went on to become solid contributors for other teams, some in premierships (Bell, Abraham). It used to be painful in the 90s and early 00s to hear a good player being referred to as 'former Docker'.

I think only De Boer is at risk of doing the same. For example, we probably got more out of guys like Balic or Michie than their new clubs did.

I think that back then our drafting was OK, but our development was bad. This time around I think our development is OK but our drafting is bad.

I'm not surprised. Collingwood was the biggest club in the game, Neesham was taken from the WAFL and the club was, what, 3 years old!?!

Well yeah and I'm no so much blaming Neesham here but you would think when setting up the new club they would also get in good people with lengthy experience in the AFL that knew what standard of training was required at the highest level.

Yep, spot on. Some of our teams during those early years were absolute country miles from what we've been playing over the last 2 years in terms of quality and yet last year we broke the record for the amount of 100+ point floggings in a season! We hit a new low after years of shit.

Six of our top twenty losses have been in the last three years, they all sit between 6th to 19th.

The 1999-2001 period has five of the top twenty losses, from 2nd to 16th.

I have it on very good authority that Fremantle's finance committee advised against the purchase of this game based on the financial metrics not stacking up, it was over ruled by the CEO.

Clay, its a tough gig being the Eagles competition.
They are a well oiled machine, but most of us on here hate them, maybe not you. We hate them coz they are a morally dodgy group of wealthy middle to old aged, white, did i say dodgy, pieces of reprehensible toilet men etc etc.
Most of us are Freo supporters coz we like the underdog, and we've had some f&&kn funny moments over our pretty pathetic history.
But guess what, we are still here, making money, and will probs be here way after you give up your keyboard warrior status.
Frankly, I don't give a flying **** what you and old docker think, and I reckon I'm in the majority here.
If Ross has to go, he'll go. You never know, we might get Jlo.

There was an overwhelming belief that Ross had something up his sleeve, that we would turn it around for finals. It was a collective delusion.

The same thing is happening now. People are kidding themselves if they think this is an orderly rebuild. We have a young team, as all rebuilding teams do. Go look at the average age and experience of the team that won the Elimination Final in 2010, and ask yourself why that isn't even close to being replicated now.

We won a final in the teeth of a rebuild, with a worse coach, against a coach that has beguiled us ever since then (we've had one win against Clarkson since that day eight years ago). Why are we shitter now than we were under Harvey? Hint: it's not because our coach is shit.

Most 100+ point losses in a season. I don't think it matters, Drum had a lot of 80-100 point losses to make up for fewer 100+ point losses.

I was actually thinking about 2010 a little while ago. For me, it was one of the more enjoyable years in our history. We were in the second year of a rebuild, playing a lot of kids, and we still made finals, and had a great win at home. Being a young team wasn't an excuse then.
