The problem with Lyon is that clubs that are gunning for a premiership with appalling list management have used his ability to outperform with a team full of spuds to conceal their own ineptitude.Problem with coaches like Lyon Malthouse Eade is Their ethos to coaching doesn’t change that’s why when the game catches up with them they can’t implement change

Very true.People can say what they want about the talent of Suban, De Boer, Mayne, Clancee, Barlow, Mzungu, Crowley ... but these guys busted their guts and were the fabric of the club. They have left a huge hole in that regard.

And many on this board want to repeat past mistakes with Hill and Carter.100%
Years of completely f-ing up the first round is killing us. We’re missing these first round players that should be around 100 games by now
Simpson & Pitt over Grundy and Darling. What a joke. Picking skinny wingers for 3 years straight.
Apeness and mora injured the whole time, Sheridan and Crozier are really 2nd rounders cause GWS gutted that draft, Logue is still a huge ?
Only drafts first rounds we’ve nailed in the past 10 years were 08, 09 & 17
Hill Fyfe Cerra Brayshaw.
Sick of us playing rookies with effort. There’s a reason all these guys are rookies. Talent isn’t all there. And we’re playing 5 of them. They might turn out good, but it’s gonna take a while.
Get us some bloody 1st and 2nd round talent plzzzz
Dale Allcock nicked all the bricks to build Goddard a mansion.Going to need some bricks myself this week. No excuses for today's trash. Ross and co deserve all the flak from you guys this time.

Embarassing re signing of Bennell and Ballantyne. Offered jack all for 3 seasons, either injured or done.
What happened today. Ballas played his pathetic usual game away, and Bennell has calf tightness. Seriously. Great decision that
Dale Allcock nicked all the bricks to build Balla and Bennell a mansion each.
We're guaranteed to have 7-8 plodders anyway.Bennell is ok, pay him absolute peanuts & if he comes good then we’re laughing.
If he doesn’t, then gone.
If he does he’s the class we need.
Ballantyne I’m 50/50 on.
I’m ok if he’s depth and plays mostly at Peel, but I don’t trust match committee to do that.
We can’t turn over 6-10 players this year cause we have 1 good pick. We will end up with another 7-8 plodders.
We're guaranteed to have 7-8 plodders anyway.
Look at the usual bottom 4-8 and vs ours.
Sheridan, Ballas are constantly down there. But have to have them depth wise? Please. We can and should do better. There's talent in state leagues.
The fact we just delisted Menegola, Barlow, De Boer when we're crying out for mature, hard nuts is a joke. Mayne has rejuvenated his career at Collingwood as a midfielder. 3 of those aren't that old, yet we're re signing Ballas, signed D. Pearce?
Just not good list management. We miss Barlow/ De Boer's tackling, defensive pressure and something that isn't taught or learnt short term
Ross, as senior coach, should have recognised that after 2013 he needed to punt the likes of Suban etc much earlier than he did, in favour of younger players, either to expose the list management failures earlier (therefore solving the problem quicker) or to hopefully expose a gem. Instead we were running over the cliff like Wiley Coyote - still looking good, but nothing underneath.
But at the same time, the fact that our head recruiter was not based in Perth meant that the failure of our list management strategy was not apparent to the man doing the management, because he was not exposed to the failures of his recruitment process on a day-by-day, week-by-week basis. Ie how does a list manager truly know if his picks were any good if he doesn't see them train / play with any great regularity?
Then he ultimately bears the cost of not challenging the list management model. It's delusory to assume that Ross, as senior coach, didn't recognise our stark deficiencies in list management (based on axioms such as, if you want sustained success, you don't trade draft picks for key forwards, no matter how shit how your drafting has proved to be). For him to attempt to expose our list management failures in the manner you suggest while operating under a directive from the club in 2014/2015 to go all out or bust to win a premiership for Pav would have been irresponsible and pointless. Ross had no authority to challenge our list management model or talent identification processes until he was signed up for the rebuild.

I'm sure you didn't just make that up so can you link to a source for that statement?
That's quite the opposite of what Steve Harris was saying at the 2014 season launch when he again spruiked a sustained success message.

Yep, after 6-7 years of the worst drafting in Freo's history it's Ross who will carry the can. You know it makes sense.
