Norm Smith Medallist
Shai Bolton plz.
Problem is we don't have a pick for him - he's late 1st early 2nd by all accounts. If we had say pick 24 then yeah for sure......

Gresh has a lot more elite tools then Daniel.. Gresh's core strength and lateral movement are superior to Daniel's. Daniel is more consistent with his ability to hit targets by foot tho.. But Gresh will definitely be a better player if their first years are anything to go by
Yeah, on straight stat comparison Gresh has him covered:

Worth noting that Gresh spent a lot more time on the ground though - 75% vs 62%.
I think they're both going to be very good, wouldn't put my money on Gresh being better yet.

The problem with this kind of threads is we over-rate our own based on their best ever games and their potential and then we judge the Dogs on their worst ever games. This is fairly skewed.
Our only genuine A grader is Steven. So lets just say Steven and Bont are both A graders.
But then what?
Ill rank the top 12 midfielders from both clubs in order:
Dogs have 7 to our 5.
- Bont
- Steven
- Armo
- Wallis
- Newnes
- Picken
- Macrae
- Hunter
- Ross
- Dunstan
- Daniel
- Liberatore
We arent that far off.
If we can get Acres, Gresh, Steele, Billings and Freeman up in to the top 300 players in the AFL we will be on track. That is a big IF seeing Freeman hasnt even played a single game. The Dogs will be hoping Toby Mclean (20yo) makes further improvements up in to that top 12.
It's 15 or 16 right now (without academies).Pick 10 for Steel and pick 17. Use pick 17 in the draft on someone like Bolton, Logue, Rotham, Florent or Galluci.
Libba, Hunter and Macrae would be 345The problem with this kind of threads is we over-rate our own based on their best ever games and their potential and then we judge the Dogs on their worst ever games. This is fairly skewed.

Because Gresham, Acres, Billings, Steele and 21 and under
Bont is a freak
Libba, Hunter and Macrae would be 345
Ross is better than DanielExactly. Steven, Bont one and two. Then McCrae, Libba, Hunter, probably Daniel then Ross.
Much of that is arguable. What I think is way off is Liberatore at 12. He should be in the top 3The problem with this kind of threads is we over-rate our own based on their best ever games and their potential and then we judge the Dogs on their worst ever games. This is fairly skewed.

Bloody gun.
Congrats on the win mate
I agree with you guys. I ripped those ratings directly from the 'Schtick rankings' but those rankings are always lagged and dont really take into account recent form. So for instance Libba gets a lower ranking than he deserves because he was injured in 2015. But I agree Libba, Macrae and Hunter are all very bloody good.Surely. I really rare Libba, hugely effective inside mid at his best (though arguably that hasn't been seen for a couple of years).
Cheers FWIW Saints have the bookends. It's just the mids.
You guys play well against us.
Without presuming to rate your mids, I'd rate our mids as
1-Bont
2-Libba
3-Dahl
4 - Macrae
5 - Picken
6.- Hunter
7-Wallis
8-Daniel
9 - Dunkley
Smith, Stringer, JJ, Suckling flit through as well
Agree I was just using those schtick ratings but they are always lagged and months behind so not current.Much of that is arguable. What I think is way off is Liberatore at 12. He should be in the top 3
You also have Mclean. What is Lukas Webb going to be like?Cheers FWIW Saints have the bookends. It's just the mids.

I think Picken's finals series has elevated him massively. Congrats by the way

Bonts only 20 too...and many think Stringer will become more mid...he's 22 as is Macrae...interesting times.Scary thing i think is the improvement still expected of Dunkley, Daniel, McLean and more time in the midfield for Smith .
