We're free? You know the government literally just started data retention yesterday right?

Compared to the gun loving freedom of the US? Compared to almost every nation on earth?

yeah... we are.

It's not perfect by any means, but compared to the rest of the planet its amazing

If we lived in the type of culture they have in the US. I'd want a gun, I suggest you would too. We can be very grateful that you can feel safe pretty much anywhere in this country.

I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of all US massacres - I'd imagine that it's far more difficult to hit targets in a darkened cinema with fixed seating than it is in a light-filled, open cafeteria after spending time assessing the scene first, but I don't have all the answers.
I simply don't believe there is some nefarious conspiracy in Port Arthur and someone using an AR-15 at close range who was rarely seen without a gun in his hands in the two years leading up to the event is likely to have been able to kill/wound a high number of people in a short space of time. The firing rate was consistent with aimed single shots, not double taps or full auto which lends credence to official accounts of the massacre.

Watch the first person video of the guy who shot that TV reporter earlier this year. He had an unsuspecting, still target lined up about 2 or 3 metres away. He missed his first 3 or 4 shots from point blank. This isn't like a video game, shooting is very difficult unless you're trained extremely well. Even though that was a handgun in that situation it's the same deal. What Bryant did was fair dinkum SAS-tier, especially if he was firing from the hip.

How so exactly? If I'm held up with a gun, then what do you think attempting to draw a gun will do? Even assuming the safety is on, its quicker to change that than it is to draw and "defend" myself.

In a home invasion? I would have to assume here that as a responsible gun owner I would have my gun secured safely, possibly in a safe. I'd get shot before I worked out the damn combination. I'm not really the type of person who'd have it sitting on my bedside table.

Either way, any situation in which I would "need" a gun, is a situation in which I'm already at a disadvantage.

Put it this way, if some nutcase is running around your uni shooting people would you rather have a concealed handgun or wait 10 minutes for the cops to arrive?
Been to the states twice. Spent about 3 1/2 months there in both tourist and non tourist areas.

Never felt like I needed to be carrying a gun.
May I ask what states/cities?

I'd rather that nutcase not have access to an assult rifle in the first place, which as the vast majority of gun liscences in the US are approved (high 90's%), he'd be able to.

To get the thread back on track, this blew my mind.

I'm not a holocaust denier or an "anti-semite" before someone tries to claim that. It's merely an interesting eye opener, something doesn't add up. There's also an interesting correlation between media ownership demographics and pushing the holocaust rhetoric.

Just a coincidence that Howard had a plan in place to take all of the guns barely a day after the attack hey?
This makes a lot of sense.
Because once John Howard had confiscated all the guns, he was free to become the Prime Minister of Australia, unopposed by multitudes of gun toting freedom fighters.

I really cbf watching such a long boring video (like seriously could that guy's voice be any more boring)

Can you give us the main arguments

It is totally senseless why government need this data. What is the use of collecting and storing it for 24 months? And, don’t forget the cost that we Australian will bear because of the data retention laws. Nevertheless, government has left us with no choice, but to our IP. VPN is the best way to be anonymous on the internet as snowden recommended. Personally i would suggest hong kong based provider PureVPN.

WikiLeaks: ISPs to hand over copyright infringer details under TPP
The TPP will force ISPs to give up the details of customers who allegedly infringe copyright and allow rights holders to seek both compensatory and punitive damages as well as loss of profit, according to WikiLeaks.

Eh...maybe

Tbh I've never come across a holocaust denial theory that made any sense at all. Somehow I doubt this will be any different
Before you cast judgement I would watch it, the numbers don't add up. And most people who don't believe the official story think that the holocaust did happen, just not to the extent that we are made to believe.

Essentially it seems that the guy who made the video could design a much better gas chamber himself, so the ones at Auschwitz weren't real.

This IT security expert was on ABC Radio the other day saying that Australian intelligence authorities request over 300,000 metadata claims each year. He suggested that they don't really have any specific targets they are searching for, but rather, they are just searching for any unusual activity. Pretty damning if that's correct.

Thank you kind PureVPN employee.

I don't really care about, if it happened or if it didn't. neither should anyone else until we have the high moral ground. Currently we're standing in blood in a very deep pit. It curdles my blood seeing an "Australian" survivor of the holocaust recounting what went on for them. The genocide against aboriginals still continues in this country, thats the only holocaust we should be worried about. Not sure how you can survive nazis then come here and do onto aboriginals what was done onto you.

No, no it isn't at all. Handguns are incredibly inaccurate - forget Hollywood, they're very difficult to use well.

e.g. first firing training with Austeyr - easily hitting groupings within target from 100m away
first training with Browning pistol - hitting 50% of the target (and not everyone achieves this) from 25m away.

I suggest you watch it.

Thanks for the homework Mr. Borderline. We'll all be educated on your conspiracy theory in no time.

It's really not the same at all.

That's not to say the situation here isn't a serious one that needs attention. And btw, it is possible to care about both.
