The Mini Draft.

Being realistic, we can't offer Wellers and Goldy up again, personally i would like the club to sit down with the group and ask 'who wants a pay rise?' and go from there.

With Reid and pendles in particular wanting a big paycheck next year, will deff help the salary getting some of the fringe players who arnt needed. If GWS wanted macaffer goldsack and wellingham for O'Meara i would jump at the chance, as all 3 players are really just there for depth, and can be replaced with fasolo/young/witts and the new batch of draftees. Whilst it may look a bit ridiculous to some people its very likely (if the trade was made) that in 5 years time will look back and say thank god.

Wellers isn't there for depth mate, he's a top 10 or 11 player IMO, i do as i explained earlier, feel we can afford to off load him, out of the players you mentioned GWS would take Wellers by himself over the rest combined IMO, if Wellers is a willing participant and gives us the all clear to test the waters we'll be a big show in the mini draft if he's coupled with another player or 2 you mentioned, but mate, it's only if their willing, you don't discard premiership players like football cards IMO.

I would not trade Wellingham either I think he could easily be a ton 10 player at the Pies,I know it was against the Dees but watch his game from the QBW game and then say he could not be top 10 player.:thumbsu:

Wellinghams a tad overrated imo, his deffinitely behind thomas swan pendlebury ball, and in 1-2 years sidebottom and beams will be better midfielders so his depth in terms of midfield depth, and as he cant play anywhere else may lose his spot despite the fact his better than some forwards/defenders which is why id trade him. Take wellingham out of the team and get another preseason into beams and sidebottom and what do we lose out of our midfield? nothing imo

I reckon he's a gun, i tipped him to go past Daisy this year i rated his 2010 so much, i'm obviously not a great judge though lol, but then again if he had an injury free year and Daisy didn't become the most improved player in the comp he may well have.

If we could get O'Meara for the 2012 season. I'd seriously consider offering up Wellers, if he was in agreeance.

Given we couldn't get O'Meara until 2013, that leaves a hole in our midfield that doesn't seem to have the attributes Wellers does. Inside & Outside ability and very good pace. We have others who can fill the void in the midfield but not with Wellers type pace. It appears O'Meara has these qualities in spades but in 2012 we'll be seriously challenging again and I'd want all hands on deck.

Tough decision. Wellers may decide it, if he wishes to go.

I have noted the AFL advice that trading these kids is for 'players'. The newspapers continue, however, to indicate picks can be traded for these guys.
