Would love to snag the Jag, havnt seen rapts like this on a kid for many a day, they reckon he'd go top 2 this year as a 17 yr old, WS has to trade him, they have no choice, what would you be willing to give up for him?

Personally i would offer Blair and Wellingham and i could even be tempted to give our first rounder as well, before you say i've lost my freaken mind, this kid has rapts on him every bit as much as Bucks (if not more so), he's a super quick inside/outside mid who kicks goals, can't play until 2013 though, thoughts?

I would also give up Witts and our first rounder, we can't trade scholarship players though.

How quickly we forget! I can name more than a half dozen kids who've had as big or bigger wraps on them as Jaeger does atm in just the past 5 years.

David Swallow speaks for himself, Stephen Coniglio was second BOG behind Krackouer in the WAFL GF last year with 20 possessions and 4 goals at the age of 17, John Butcher tore apart the 08 national champs as a 17 year old, Lachie Whitfield looks even better than O'Meara but is a few months younger, Bryce Gibbs was playing Glenelg seniors at the age of 16, Tom Scully would have gone top 5 in 08 had he been eligible, Tom Swift was the second coming of christ after the 06 U16 champs and there's a kid available in next years mini draft by the name of Jack Martin who has even bigger wraps on him than Jaeger!

Jaeger looks the goods alright, but I'd be hesitant to go OTT to get him!

We'll need to offer something worthwhile to get a decent pick, only 4 picks available i think.

The highest rated kid in any draft cops these kind of raps tbh. David Swallow last year for example.

Think he's getting the rapts because he would go top 2 as a 17 yr old (most believe anyway), he ticks all the boxes you could ask for as a player (so i'm told, never seen him play, can't even find a utube clip).

GWS don't have to trade him or any of the available picks in the mini draft.

They can hold out in which Jaeger will have to enter next year's national draft where it is more than likely that GWS will have pick 1 yet again. Highly unlikely that they won't deal during this mini draft scheme but the option is there for them.

I'm more than happy to package offers if we are keen but not genuine best 22 players such as Wellingham. I'd want more back in exchange if we put Wellingham on the table. He is a required player.

We are in premiership mode, we need to retain those crucial to that success.

If they don't they'll have to use a very high draft pick of their own to get him, that'll mean they miss out on any compensation the mini draft offers them, they'll trade him, nothing surer.

I like him a lot and I posted the numbers from his WAFL debut on the weekend in the list management thread as they were mighty impressive. However he isn't able to play at AFL level until 2013 and won't be playing at a similar level to what Wellingham is now until at least 2015 which is just too far away to give up a lot for.

DT keep an eye on Whitfield he'll be number 1 next year whether O'Meara's available or not. He's as close to a clone of Fyfe as you'll ever get! There's nothing of him, he runs all day, has beautiful skills either side of the body, is as tough as a cats head and has incredibly sticky hands.

As Jager has Nominated for the Min-Draft he can get selected without going to GWS

Only if GWS decide to trade one of the picks. Remember if they choose not to trade them the mini draft becomes null and void!

Heard they can keep any or all the picks until next year, they may then use the mini draft to trade for picks in the super draft, but they do need mature age players, they'll get absolutly destroyed if they don't get some decent ones so most think they'll just take the best offers in the mini draft.

7. Incentive to other clubs trading with GWS Giants in the 2011 and 2012 post-season:
GWS Giants to be given access to four 17-year-olds born in the January to April 1994 window, with all players to be traded to other clubs. Selections will be allocated to GWS Giants so the club can trade for established players, but the club will not have access to these 17-year-olds. If the four trades are not completed in the 2011 post-season, the balance of up to four trades may be used in the 2012 trading period.

Not hugely into the idea of trading into the mini draft anymore. Need premierships now while we have the list to do it. Other clubs should out bid us pretty easy.

Most I'd trade would be Wellingham + 1st rounder. But wouldn't feel comfortable doing it..
Still likely not enough.

Blasphemy!!

Who decides the order of this mini draft?

Does GWS decide what they think is the best offer?

If so I can't see them allowing us the first pick (O'Meara) no matter what we offer.

A few clubs will give offers for the 1st pick, one club will get it this year (make no mistake) which will be whoever offers the best deal. Then GWS will offer the 2nd pick to the 2nd highest bidder, who doesnt have to accept and so on i think.

Why wouldnt they give us O'Meara? They want the best for themselves.

This kid has recruiters drooling and has far more raps on him than any modern day player. We use the phrase "the next judd" or ablett too often, this kid actually is the next judd (very likely, not 100%) and we should trade anyone not important to the premiership team (wellingham blair goldsack buckley ect ect). With our facilitys / Coaches we have a very good chance of getting somone in the judd/ablett/buckley catorgory.

despite the fact we are currently in a premiership window, we mustn't forget about the future, but aim for present AND future success. In his debut for the senior team (in WA, cant remember which) a few weeks ago he snagged a lazy 4 goals in a match winning performance ive been told/read.

Sheedy hates Collingwood with a passion, if he has 'anything' to do with who gets what we need not bother.

Agree 100% with the rest.

This isnt sheedys decision, his not list management or anything... he just sets up strategy/drills. Why do GWS care if they make us stronger? Unlikely in their mind for us to be challenging them for the premiership when they are aiming for it (5-6 years). Wouldnt they be more concerned about giving a team like melbourne or GC a young star as they will likely be peaking around the same time.

He's the head coach, him being the head coach he has every right to have the last say on trades, they'll be implementing his game plan and he will need certain types to make the best of that game plan, Sheedy was very very active in the trades at the Bombers, can't see this club being any different, he's an ego maniac who hates all things Collingwood 50 times more than anyone on BF.

I was really interested at first but there is very little chance we are giong to enter the mini draft.

To get one of the top picks we'd have to cough up our 1st round pick and a best 22 player, probably better then that. Not going to happen when you are in premiership mode and the player you are likely to score wont play until 2013.

FWIW, I dont think GWS will get naything near what they think they can obtain. Only clubs in serious rebuild mode will be willing to cough of something really good for a player that wont play for them nutil the following year.

Port Adelaide: give up pick 4 + a decent player, play similar to this year, and finish up with O'Meara and pick 1 (priority pick for 4 or less wins) and then another early 1st round pick for finishing near the bottom.

Port tanks their games to GWS and could realistically walk away with picks 1 + 2 for the 2012 draft along with O'Meara.

People (including me) think or thought you could offer draft picks, reading that (which is from the AFL website) makes me think only players can be offered, not 100% sure though, if it's true it would give us a good chance.

GWS have stated THERE NOT AFTER PICKS, they need mature bodies from this, which is why collingwood has a good chance with blair wellingham goldsack ect on the table

Being realistic, we can't offer Wellers and Goldy up again, personally i would like the club to sit down with the group and ask 'who wants a pay rise?' and go from there.
