D.C sniper documentary worth a look for those who haven't yet seen it, unbelievable events which have probably left the greatest impact on me.

Would of been terrifying at the time.
This was in 2002 when news stations were geared to reporting tragedy 24/7 and with September 11 material running low.

The ESPN doc on OJ was phenomenal, it doesn't feel right qualifying it as a 'crime' documentary.

The Jinx was also fascinating and, of course, one that's actually made an impact beyond television (also had awesome intro). You really have to wonder if Durst, subconsciously, wanted to be caught.

I'm hoping the success of these two leads to more channels investing in quality crime docos.

'OJ,Made In America' was a fantastic doco...not sure if that's the one you're referring to Trucko, think I saw it on NITV. Brilliant nonetheless..references to OJ's upbringing, history of LAPD alleged racism, Rodney King & repercussions.
Very good IMHO. OJ found guilty of a crime, in the end, of course.
'Beware the Slenderman' Is the most recent one I've seen, which is morbidly fascinating.

Yeah I remember seeing that one.

Also- the Central Park 5, about 5 African American boys/men being convicted of a rape they were innocent of. Really good movie length doco.

The Staircase is probably still my favourite true crime documentary/series. Paved the way for shows like The Jinx and Making A Murderer. Compelling case, full of twists and turns and a lingering ambiguity as to just what the hell happened. Rare case of a TV show I watched entirely in one day.

Blue murder is probably the best of the Aussie docudramas.

It even went to the unusual extent of writing in the dodgy coppers.

I watched that a few years ago, I think he did it.
ATM I'm watching murder uncovered, downloaded the eps last night (I don't watch normal tv so missed it when they were shown).
Episode 1 is about the Birnies, vile creatures those two!!

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father was good, incredibly sad.

Oh man, that movie is almost unbearably sad. Very few films have upset and infuriated melike that one did.

I'm interested in checking out The Keepers. New Netflix true crime series following the murder of a nun who was intent on reporting an abusive priest. Seems to have garnered good reviews thus far.

Two new documentaries worth a look to scratch the true crime itch:

Mommy Dead And Dearest - a really bizarre story of murder and abuse. I hesitate to describe much about it for fear of giving away some of the disturbing and shocking elements but it really is fascinating.

Disgraced - a doco about the murder of a college basketball star in the early 00s in America. An interesting story where the details and motivations of the murder are forgotten in favour of following the coach and his cynical lies in the aftermath. A man trying to escape scrutiny and punishment for cheating in the wake of revelations the murder reveals. It's a good look into how dark a place competitive sports can take some people and how the sporting industry will sadly protect those in the wrong rather than fighting for actual justice.
