The first casualty in war is the truth. . . .

but when the dust settles and the propaganda from all sides invloved dissipates, the truth (or as close as possible) is usually discovered.

Milosevic, sounds like a pretty bad character from what I know, though I haven't studied all that closely the Balkans conflicts during the 90s. I reckon that there's an element of truth though in his statement that the British wanted him to remain in power.

The US is currently facing the penalties of having their Government attempt to manipulate or control other countries' affairs and the consequences of this.

yes dippers i can
go listen to his speech on the grounds upon which the serbian army was defeated by the ottomans 400 years ago. About serbia being the "greater serbia" ie lets kill all the bonsians croats etc because its our land. Tito kept peace in the most volatile place on earth for 40 years, Milosevic unburied the deep seated racial hatred and used it for his own means.

I thought you were going to mention this speech, as it seems to be the one most quote when offerring "proof" of Milosevic's tyranny. I have read it and find it amazing that he does not use the occasion of speaking in front of a million people to promote a narrow ethnic agenda. At no point does he attack ethnic Albanians.

I will try and find a link to a web page that has the speech but to reiterate the speech is characterised by calls of multiculturalism, mutual respect and ethnic diversity.

You will need to offer me more proof than this speech solace.

Sorry, I was going for history's most evil bastards, but as for the modern era, I'll would give it to Slobodan Milosevich, Saddam Hussain and George W Bush (mainly the nameless, faceless people pulling the strings) but not in that particular order.
