First off, I need to start off and say that this is my own opinion and all should be taken as such.

This year is probably the most important year for the club in the last 10 years. It was 10 years ago this Friday that Wallace was begin as coach. It was the first year of the "5 year plan" to bring this great club back to the top. How it failed. After 4.5 seasons of coaching he was voted out mid season. From there we got an entire clean out of staff who wanted to wipe the slate clean and start fresh.

With a clean slate we got a new coach and with Gale at the helm we began to sure up our off field support network to give strength to the on field. Membership rose as the club climbed the ladder and we continued to surprise all onlookers. Then in 2013, 12 years since the previous appearance, we made it back into the finals. The fans showed the release of frustration and flocked to see the game against Carlton. What they saw left them disappointed but still with hope. Fast forward a year and the club stole the final position is the finals series to only be blown away by the opposition.

This year is the most important year in the last decade. Not only for the on field staff but also for the clubs administration. After making back to back finals the fans are coming out to support this mighty club. Membership sales have never been higher and the club has been turning great profits. The building blocks are there for continued success, however, that success hangs on this season. The club is at a crossroads and needs to make a decision. Does the playing group demand better standards and move to improve? or do we commemorate mediocre achievements. To continue the hype train that is being felt by the majority of supporters the club needs to make it further than week 1 of the finals. Anything less spells disaster. I can not see any scenario that keeps Damien Hardwick as coach if we are "making up numbers" in the top 8. Same goes for membership sales if the club is destabilised again through another coach sacking.

This is the year that will determine our next decade. If we can silence those who doubt us, if we can prove that we are a club to be feared, if we can show that we are committed to not repeat the mistakes of the past we can become the power of the AFL.

Good post.

I agree and disagree but you are right. This year is super important, we need to be competitive, and actually make finals and win one again. I dont believe if we fail in that, people en mass would abandon the club but you are right, if we do accomplish it, it will go a long way into restoring the tiger pride from those outside our 4 walls

I agree that there won't be a mass exodus however I think that if Damien Hardwick is sacked then that will destabilise the club which will result in the "fair weather" members not becoming members out of fear due to what has happened in the past.

I believe if we become unified we can become a bully of the AFL much like Hawthorn is today. My dream for this club is to not have people look at us like they look at a "slow" child. I am sick of the club being ridiculed and laughed at.

going to be awesome, we either make a semi or sack dimma :rainbow:

I'm absolutely convinced that there are people on here who would prefer the latter, if given a guaranteed choice of either one happening.

Not saying you specifically, but just in general there are some very anti-Dimma people around here.

Sacking Hardwick would increase memberships , maybe we should all be getting charged a small fee to watch his press conferences as he seems to be more interested in being a comedian than a senior coach these days after matches.

Look , he's a good bloke but I'm convinced there are better coaches out there. Let's hope he succeeds because if he does then the club succeeds and that is more important than anything .

That's a fair call mate, as long as you're willing to budge on the position you have about him if he proves you wrong.

I believe Hardwick will win us our next flag, however that position is not set in stone, and my opinion will change with the evidence I see this season. I'm backing us in to win a final though, so let's hope we can, because as you say, the club being successful is more important than anything, Hardwick or no Hardwick.

These types of thoughts run around my head 10,000 times a week, I even have sleepless nights laying in bed looking up at the ceiling thinking about how badly we have to have a good season this year. My love of the Tigers may well end up giving me an ulcer but i wouldnt support a different club for anything.

Rusty Rusty Rusty

Are you the same Rusty that rings in on SEN late at night?

I was thinking after 2015 season could be very important to what we do, recruitment wise, and direction.

If Hardwick goes will it be end of 2015 season or 2016?

We really need to put the building blocks together to get the players we need to rise to the top in the future IMO.

I am interested to see how long FJ lasts to.

The way Conca is tracking is not good for his big call at the time.

If Blakey becomes a star as well as others further questions will be asked no doubt

why would a pretty good poster post a garbage statement like this? Undermines your credibility Rusty.

Jesus rusty, did someone piss on your corn flakes this morning? Possibly get some happy pills off your doctor old mate your sounding more sour than usual.

I actually dreamt he proved me wrong last night and we had an undefeated season and won the flag . It was awesome and I became a convert in that dream.

Because we have 64k members and not everyone loves the guy and as for the last statement have you watched last weeks after match press conference ? why is he intent on cracking jokes and giving players stupid nicknames instead of talking seriously about football?

Watch the press conference from after Saturday's game mate. The guy is a joker. I expect more from potentially a top 4 coach , a lot more. After watching it go and watch Eades press conference and Leppas.

That is his personality.I'm sure he tries just as much as everyone else.
Richmond will have a target on the back this year but we are Richmond,a big ,passionate club so we will always be the hunted regardless.

same - must be in the 8 and win at least 1 final game...and the loss in the final shouldn't bean embarrassing loss

I've heard the same thing for the last couple of years.

2013 was the crucial year. Just like 2014 then was. Then 2015. And I have no doubt 2016 will also be the most important in the many years.

Pretty much every year is going to be our biggest yet until Lids and co start to get old and break down.

Has anyone mentioned the war chest yet?

This year is the year I'll be following with most interest, as this year will tell us whether the playing group are up to it and whether Dimma is up to it. Miss finals and Dimma is gone. Make finals and lose again and serious changes to the playing group will go underway.
