In furious agreement TC!!!

I was listening to this when you posted.

When my Mum was dying a couple of years ago, my brother and I went and bought a iPod dock and we took it into her room and played John Denver (among others) and a few of us would sit around her bedside and sing these songs through lumps in our throats. Sunshine on My Shoulders was one that we sang over and over. And one particular song I really struggle with singing anymore is My Sweet Lady:

for obvious reasons :(

Last one for the night...

I love that song- would never have recognised the singer's name, though. My memory is pretty bad. Something I never forget, though, is a tune.

Damn. Now I've said that, I bet something will turn up that I admit to forgetting! :(
I can still remember words to songs from 30 years ago but can't recall what I was doing 20 minutes ago :(

The other day I was walking the dog at my local park and have no idea how I managed to get from Point A to Point B but there I was- continuing my journey as I do every morning, but this time with a 5 minute blank in the middle of my walk!

Always tough dealing with a passing. Glen Campbell also does a great version of "Sunshine on My Shoulders". I would have liked to have seen him on his tour to Oz but it was cancelled as he has advancing Altzheimers I believe and is no longer able to play as well. :(

Excellent choice there! :thumbsu:
The songs I really enjoy singing along with are those that I can sing harmonies to- either they have already been done as duets or they are just so easy to sing higher/lower parts to. Don't know how it sounds to outsiders but it makes me happy :) and nobody bothers me when I'm belting out the songs to the chooks or in my car on the way to or from school drop off/pick up :)

Yeah.

What a shame about Campbell- I don't think I've heard his version. I guess the end must come to all of us at some stage but dementia and Alzheimers are just awful and really cut off the best years of so many people's lives.

Yeah.

I think they are the cruelest endings - they rob everyone of pleasant memories and leave a bitter chasm.

I have it on a Campbell 3 CD set - the version of the song was a live one and he really nails the emotional tone of the song. OI can't find it on youtube or an mp3 though.
doesn't matter. I might dig a little deeper another time. I love his voice- just hadn't heard him singing that song, though, and would be interested to hear it. Love Rhinestone Cowboy, Bonapart's Retreat, Galveston, etc.

Segue. Starts at Lady are you crying, from Big Girls Don't Cry to Boys Don't Cry:

On a great high tonight after being at today's game. Was going to try and be clever and dedicate some songs to our retiring champs, but may do it tomorrow.
Must've been a really great game to see live. Occasions like that make me quite homesick, but anyway, on with the music...

How about this one for SJ...although it didn't always go to plan, but yep, I believe in magic...
