Might be more?If he is really 96kgs then I think we might be!![]()
A fit Kirby?Very happy with the night overall. Addressed some needs and got the two FS boys in. Well done Dekka and team. The only downside for mine is that none of the 4 boys probably look to be able to make an immediate impact at AFL level next year

We got so much youth in the team already, I doubt we have to worry about kids coming through. They could all do with a bit of development in an AFL environment anyway. If we are putting our hopes on some freshly drafted 18 yr old, then we are truly f*d. (Which coincidentally exactly what we did with Darcy but that episode is behind usVery happy with the night overall. Addressed some needs and got the two FS boys in. Well done Dekka and team. We didn't have Gubbiness then, so didn't happenHa, I love this urban myth stuff, that the club asked Josh to hold back over the last couple of years. The likelihood? Very low. The feel good factor amongst fans? Very high.![]()
You got that right..Not limited to sport.
And he won't be spooked by the sounds of footsteps behind himI've got a funny feeling about the big man we picked up at 30.. I think he's a gem.. a quick thinking forward and back is what we lacked with brown and frost.. this guy has great awareness of his surroundings from what lil highlights i have seen of him. its something you simply cannot teach a player.. born with it. so i think he's gonna be great for us.

Yes it would have been awkward wouldn't it.Haha it's funny isn't it. Although if a team went full stupid and bid pick 10, you'd stuff up your whole draft trying to match. So I guess there's that slight chance you won't take them. Enough not to give us false hope.
Maybe he can play the Leigh Brown role (that this board has been searching for the past 5 years).I've got a funny feeling about the big man we picked up at 30.. We'll also know shortly after if we add another indigenous talent in Isiah Farrell-Nelson or one overlooked by another club as a Cat B rookie.

I think so.. he just looks like he reads the game well.. does he have a left foot like Leigh Brown though. God Brown was uncanny.. you know those lazy looking footy players that seem to able to be anything.. and have the tendency to freak you out at times.. I'll never forget Browns 4 goals in the last qrt agst the dogs in 2010 i think it was.. the G shook man. Going nuts.Maybe he can play the Leigh Brown role (that this board has been searching for the past 5 years).
Swing back & forward, aggression, some relief ruck down back or forward...?
Theory: our number 1 available draft target at pick 30 was Shai Bolton who we intended to take expecting to have a good chance of picking up McLarty with a pick in the 40's. Richmond took Bolton the pick before us so we reverted to plan B which was to steal their category B rookie with our pick in the 40's.
I was thinking the same.I have a Feeling we taken McLarty before Bolton as he feels a Bigger Need and is a Vic Boy
... And records an interview about picking him up earlier in the day. Haha."We're not committed to drafting these boys"

I was thinking the same.
If tigers passed on Bolton.
One million Collingwood supporters, would have fist pumped & cried YES...he's ours !
Smiles all round, then...
Collingwood still drafts Sam McLarty...
One million Collingwood supporters would have WTF, who, what...ah come on...
Big Footy melt...
Sack Bucks...
I think we still would have drafted Sam.
I'm ok with it.
I'm also fine with the selections. I think in both cases when you pick around 30 plus you have to look at risk - reward. Clearly McLarty has huge potential which we've scoped out and the predominant issue is whether his shoulder can come good. Shoulders are complex and delicate things (as I'm learning more in middle age!) some guys who pop them never get them back the way they should and it kills their career. Others it's not such a major issue. Obviously well be praying that the boy can stay fit and realise that massive potential which would be huge for us. Based on previous form and comments made - almost like picking up a top ten pick. No way wanting to jinx it, but my God, you would think we're due for some luck in this department after what we've gone through with Freeman, Scharenberg etc.
Also. I think Dekka definitely drafted for needs this year. We needed more indigenous guys and red heads. No list is complete without them.
Just how UnLucky we been with Injuries last few seasons would make anyone feel a bit Nervous about Sam's Shoulder. Hope not another Rusling
