Brendon Bolton Calls It Quits
Shock went over the Carlton Football Club today as Brendon Bolton announced that
he would be leaving the football club after no more than two years as the coach.

"As much as I've enjoyed coaching this group, there are other interests outside of footy that I want to put
more time into." Said Bolton.

"Brendon Bolton has been an outstanding person for this football club over the last three and
a half seasons," said CEO Mark LoGiudice. "There is no question that he has give his heart and soul."

As of now it is unknown who Carlton will sign as the head coach for the 2018 season, however talks between Mark LoGiudice
and big names like Paul Roos and Michael Voss are set to be underway very soon.

David Teague Named As Carlton Coach 1/1/18
In an unexpected and suprising move, David Teague has officially inked a one-year deal as the Carlton head coach for the
2018 season.

After finishing in 16th last year on the AFL ladder, the blues will have a difficult season this year but will
hopefully be able to get some wins on the board and play some competitive footy under Teague. David Teague was a courageous
defender who played 83 games across six seasons with North Melbourne and Carlton.

JLT Community Series Week 1 Preview
The 2018 season starts off this weekend, with Carlton facing Adelaide. Adelaide are looking like the stronger team on paper and will go into this game with confidence. This weekend we will be able to get a glimpse at what David Teague can do and see why the blues chose him for the job.

"We're using this time as an opportunity to experiment with our younger players" said Blues coach David Teague.

HB: T. Williamson - C. Marchbank - H. Macreadie

Blues Thumped By In-Form Adelaide

Carlton 2.2 14 | 5.4 34 | 9.4 58 | 12.5 77
--------------------------------------------------------
Adelaide 5.4 34
| 11.4 70 | 14.8 92 | 22.12 144

Carlton have been smashed infront of their home crowd, in an awful way to start off their 2018 season.

"It was a good experience for the young boys I felt" said David Teague. "I don't think this game predicts how we will go this year at all - we we're resting a some of our best, and some of our boys really stepped up in a game where we never looked much of a chance."

The blues dominated the clearances but couldn't do much against Adelaide's strong side.

Carlton will not participate any further in the JLT Community Series.

Goals: P. Kerr 3, C. Curnow 2, T. Williamson, C. Marchbank, C. Polson, M. Kennedy, Z. Fisher, J. Garlett

The Blues will be looking to upset the Eagles this game after their quick exit from the JLT Series in the Pre-Season. West Coast have the stronger side and will most likely get over the line by a comfortable margin. There's no doubt the blues will put up a fight however, and this is expected to be a good game.

Josh Kennedy Has a Day Out as the Eagles Sink the Blues

West Coast 3.3 21 | 6.4 40 | 15.7 97 | 21.7 133

Carlton 3.1 19 | 3.2 20 | 7.2 44 | 16.5 101

Josh Kennedy kicked 8 goals in his first game of the season, as the eagles held off a fourth quarter surge from Carlton. It was ultimately their 2nd and 3rd quarter that let Carlton down in this game, in which they kicked 4 goals to the eagles' 12. The Blues came out of nowhere in the last quarter and kicked 9 goals, but it wasn't enough. The Eagles prevailed by 32.

The Blues struggled in the contested ball, with a -16 "Hard balls gets" differential and only 9 contested marks. David Teague acknowledged this in the press conference.

Q: In the stats, the blues were dominated in the contested ball, similar to the Adelaide game. What are you going to do to improve this?
DT: I've definitely noted down that we need to be more agressive around the contests, and this is something we're going to look at improving by next week.

"Four quarter performances are what win games - not two quarter performances" said Teague.

Carlton will look to produce a better performance next week against Geelong.

The Blues suffered a very disappointing loss against West Coast last week, and will be looking to improve their aggression and fight in this game against Geelong. Geelong are the premiership favorites, and the blues will need to do something magical to win this game.

Geelong 3.5 23 | 9.8 62 | 14.11 95 | 18.12 120

Geelong smash Carlton out of the water this weekend as the Carlton board watch on and wonder if they made the wrong decision appointing Teague. The Blues came out firing in the first quarter but never looked like a chance from there. You could tell that the contested ball had improved since last week, with the Carlton players looking more agressive on the field. After quarter time, the blues couldn't seem to get their hands on it. Suprisingly, they won the hitouts +5 and +2 inside fifties, showing decent signs against the top team in the competition.

Essendon v Carlton - Sunday, 4:40

Lineup:
B:
L. Plowman -- C. Marchbank -- J. Weitering
HB:
S. Docherty -- S. Rowe -- A. Mullett
C:
K. Simpson -- E. Curnow -- M. Kennedy
HF:

EMG:

In: L. Jones, J. Lamb
Out: S. Petrevski-Seton, Z. Fisher

Essendon are the favourites going into this weekend's game against the blues, although the blues have been stronger in the ruck against both Geelong and West Coast. Carlton will definitely go into this game with a strong chance, and the return of injured backman Liam Jones will assistant them greatly.

Blues Start the Year 0-3

Essendon
4.0 24 | 11.3 69 | 16.7 103 | 20.7 129
----------------------------------------------------------
Carlton 3.3 21 | 6.6 42 | 9.9 63
| 12.12 84

A very poor performance saw the blues go down by 40 odd points against Essendon. At this rate, David Teague will not be getting a new contract next year.

"We've had a very rough start but we're looking to improve" said Teague after the game.

Goals: Casboult 4, Kennedy 2, Wright 2, Lamb, Curnow, Marchbank, Simpson
