Should be the MPPWTEOTM award.

Most Popular Player Within The Eyes Of The Media

should be the MVFCITHOB away

most valuable front court in the history of basketball

That's not how it works though. The MVP is based on regular season only. End of. No other qualification necessary.

That's why we have a Finals MVP too.

durant is too much of a nice guy
Not as an all round player as Lebron/Howard

Not saying he's undeserving to be in the group, How many other players would you put your car on for making a contested long range shot to drag the thunder out of trouble?

I will be putting up the weekly NBA.COM M.V.P Rankings ITT

KD is actually shooting over 50% this season. He is taking less shots and forcing it a lot less, however he is also rebounding well and becoming more of a playmaker (his off-hand dribbling has noticably improved). As such, the Thunder offense has been very balanced. He's also been vital in a number of wins with his clutch scoring down the stretch.

Currently best player on the league's best team. Maybe he needs a couple of trademark 40-point games to get in the spotlight.

This weeks R2MVP are up on NBA.COM

http://www.nba.com/mvp-ladder/2011-12/index.html

They Currently stand as:

1: Lebron James
2: Dwight Howard
3: Kevin Durant
4: Kobe Bryant
5: Derrick Rose
6: Kevin Love
7: Chris Paul
8: Ty Lawson
9: Rudy Gay
10: David West

Dropping out are: Wayde, Aldridge, and Millsap

James and Howard should be 1 and 2. Bryant ahead of Durant. Love ahead of Rose, surprised Paul is on the list TBH, can't justify 8,9 or 10

Lebron still leading by a long way IMO.

Post All Star break the M.V.P debate always becomes a hot topic.

With around 25 games left in the schedule Sekou Smith has updated his NBA.com MVP Ladder

1: Lebron James
2: Kevin Durant
3: Chris Paul
4: Kobe Bryant
5: Derrick Rose
6: Dwight Howard
7: Russel Westbrook
8: Kevin Love
9: Dwyane Wade
10: Tony Parker

My thoughts on this are swap Parker with Westbrook and it's pretty spot on. But you may as well make it a top 5 from here on out. Apart from injuries and the way the top 5 on the list are playing right now, it's those 5 guys with any chance.

My end of season predictions are

1: james
2: rose
3: durant

Derrick Rose won't finish second in the NBA MVP race this year unless he has an amazing finish to the season.

I think KD will win MVP, LeBron second and CP3 third.

Rose is killing it right now. Nobody remembers the first half of the year in MVP voting.

LeBron is so far in front of everyone else it's a joke that there is even a race.

Agreed

Deron Williams to make the top five if he continue his recent form?

Team record/consistant form hurts him a lot. Definite top 10 if he keeps up what he's doing. Probably won't even get 1 vote at all sadly

how is K Love not even getting a look in

Media gonna be all over Durant cause its "his turn" but truth is Bron in front of him at this stage....

Wouldn't surprise me that many voters are waiting to see which of Miami and OKC end up with the best record before casting their vote.

I can't see James winning the MVP because he already has two and the media will be pushing Durant's wagon hard.

While Rose was fantastic last season there was definitely a little bit of that in his win as well. Everyone wanted him to win because it was "his turn".

Stern to veto MVP award if James doesn't win it

Really, last year it was meant to be Kevin Durant's turn, which is why the wagon for KD will be pushed even harder this year since D-Rose generated so much hype with the rise of the Bulls.

You're right though, LeBron has to be out of this world to take the MVP from KD, and right now he is that but the media will do all it can if LeBron slips just a little from the crazy numbers he's putting up at ridiculous efficiency to give to KD.

With the injuries the Chicago Bulls have had this season, Rose included, surely he is in serious contention for a second straight MVP.

I say it comes down to Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant.

And Chicago v OKC is my tip for the NBA Finals.

Have you missed that LeBron James is probably having the best regular season by a player since Michael Jordan in his prime?

KD is 2nd and Rose is probably top 5 and rising.

But they're both also-rans.

The MVP has LeBron's name on it already.

This man disagrees.

Lebron with 32 PER (Next closest this season is Wade with 28 PER, then Durant with 27)

Since Hollinger started using these advanced stats no player has finished season with a 32 PER.

This will be a shortened season though.

The King is killing it... Give him the trophy already.

Wasn't Jordans 31 PER the last lockout season when he averaged 35ppg and won the MVP? (may not be slightly close)

I see this as a 2 horse race now much like last season. Bron vs Rose. The voters will forget Rose being injured the first half of the season.

I wish the award was called the BDVPASBA (Bias dumbasses voting on post all star break award)

Edit* that was last seasons award
