If you go back I was calling for Gordon and LaVine as 2/4 of my recommended dunk contested contestants back before the selections were made.

Just needed more Gerald Green and Larry Nance Jr and we'd have seen the 4 best dunkers in the NBA.

Gordon was great but LaVine was more my taste. I just love the style of those long jump dunks.

But that was a pretty good dunk contest.

I felt Gordon where doing Dunks that never seen before while LaVine's one have been seen before

Gordon probably should have won... Big aover that mascot!

Well noone had wound up on a free throw dunk like LaVine and noone had put it through the legs on a free throw dunk like LaVine but what did it for me is he wasn't actually behind the line... The first dunk ok he was touching the line but the second he was way past it....

Very high scoring All Star game but you get that when you play no D, glad the West won for Kobe but don't agree with Westbrook MVP. Paul George was shooting beautifully with an equal record 41 points, his shots were dropping very sweetly, should have got it IMO.

All Star game is not even close to a Real Game. No One Tries Defensively and just players showing off there Offensive Side to the Game

So annoyed the cavs traded Varejao, if we don't win the championship (which we probably won't) then we've traded our most loyal player for no reason.

I look at the trade deadline as a wasted opportunity for the Cavs.

There is that $10.5m Haywood trade exception, and that also nice $2.85m exception via Mike Miller and in the end the Cavs end up moving Varejao, Cunningham, a future first round and second round selection for Frye?

I don't look at that as being fair dinkum about winning the chip.

Some of those guys who don't get used regularly I would have no problem getting rid of with a roster of around 13 players ideal at this time with buyouts to happen still, and perhaps some opportunities there for a David Lee or maybe Joe Johnson if that happens or whoever.

Just some kind of upgrade needs to happen because the Warriors/Spurs or whoever come out of the West are too far ahead.

I don't rate the Spurs as much as you seem to. I think they are pretty much on cavs/okc level with warriors clearly better.
- Tony Parker can't guard curry, if they go green then klay goes nuts if they swing Leonard onto klay then Barnes will take advantage of parker etc
- Duncan didn't play last time they played but he will be protecting a rim no one is attacking...

I feel cavs will sign JJ, I'm not sure who else. They did stuff up not gettin Korver and moving Love.

I only see two contenders this year. Golden State and San Antonio. Defensively I personally really like the matchup for the Spurs. The Warriors have by far and away the best record and won't be kicked out of the 1 seed but the Spurs still last time I looked have the best points differential so on quality their given that a match for the Warriors and in with a shot.

In terms of matchups. I like the way the Spurs matchup with the Warriors and see them overall as the only team with the versatility on defence and the fundamentals and team play on offense to be able to hurt Golden State.

Leonard can take Curry and pick him up full court, Green can take Thompson.

Barnes I don't see v Parker as much of an advantage as an only average scorer. Parker can stay with him on the perimeter and if Barnes drives then he has the twin towers in Duncan and Aldridge to contend with.

Then on the other end I see the Spurs as relatively hard to stop. Parker can drive on Curry who is more an opportunist defender than a 1v1 defender. Leonard can't be stopped on offense by Thompson or Barnes as good as Thompson particularly is on that end, Leonard on offense is better than LeBron is this year and does it all within the flow of the offense. And down low Duncan and Aldridge can and will get their points if the Warriors go small, or alternative the Spurs can also go small with the versatility of their defenders.

With a next tier of OKC, Cleveland and maybe LA Clippers if J.Green starts and helps to elevate them.

Korver would have been an optimal pickup for the Cavs. Get him space which LeBron, Kyrie or Love all can with their ability to draw the defence and Korver really could have been excellent for the Cavs.

Anyone catch Warriors-Spurs? Spurs kept them to 79. Still think Warriors will get the record and win the thing.

I enjoyed the game. The Spurs controlled the game keeping Steph and Klay from making 3s and controlling the pace in a playoff style slow half court battle. The Warriors given that dynamic did really well to keep the margin close throughout, and it just shows even when Steph and Klay aren't making their 3s that they can still through the quality of their defence still stay in the game which is mighty impressive.

If anyone knocks off the Warriors the Spurs are the team to do it this year as the best 3pt defenders in the game and that other team that in any other year probably would win the championship. I overall slightly favour the Warriors while giving the Spurs a fighting chance in a series.

Spurs shot better from behind the arc than the Warriors. That won't happen often. 9/36 25% from 3 is a shocker for Golden State.

The Spurs just looked to take away the three point shot by playing up on the Warriors more aggressively and didn't give Steph or Klay any room to get off uncontested 3pt attempts. It gave the Warriors plenty of opportunities to drive given the way the Spurs were defending the Warriors, and if it was a 7 game series that is what the Warriors would need to realise, but the Warriors didn't really look to take advantage of that, so the Spurs won with the Warriors unable to make that adjustment.

I reckon if you take away the Warriors 3 ball they are right back to the pack...

I can't say I'd agree about the Warriors being right back to the pack without the 3 ball. The Spurs would be better, and the Cavs and Thunder would be in their conversation. But that would be all.

The Warriors are historically by far and away the greatest 3pt shooting team.

In saying that though the Warriors are such a great team because of what they do on both sides of the ball. They're a seriously strong team on defence, causing turnovers (which lead to lots of easy 3s in transition) and they also have the versatility to switch and make it hard for teams to score on them.

The Warriors concede 100ppg most games, but that's a result of the pace of their play (2nd highest to only Sacramento). The Warriors are actually a top 4 team in defensive efficiency based on Hollinger's Defensive Efficiency stat.

That's the pack I was talking about. They ain't no 95-96 Bulls I'll give you that much.
