The Answer coming to the NBL?

The Sydney Kings and more importantly the NBL could be in for a massive boost with former NBA star Allen Iverson making noises he wants to end his career in Australia.

Whether he's 35, 36, 37, 38 or 400 it would still be amazing to have AI playing in the NBL.

Imagine what it would do for the league? Although somebody will have to tell him that the salary cap is a little bit smaller in Australia.

not good at all.

would be even more of an embarrassment to basketball in australia if he comes here an dominates.

I dont wanna see some washed up nba star able to come here an dominate.
It will make our league look even worse than it does now.

If he struggles an doesnt find it way too easy it will be good for the NBL

When he hears how much he will be getting paid i doubt he will be so keen to end his playing days here.

I've heard about this on the radio and seen it reported on TV, but did Iverson actually say these things?
There's no mention of the NBL/Sydney on Iverson's twitter page and no official statements from Iverson or any of his friends/associates.

Is anyone doing any fact-checking for all these news outlets, or did they just hear this story somewhere and run with it?

Perhaps this was a hoax posted on a fake Iverson twitter account, a Sydney Kings stunt (hey, Rodney O & AI are both black and from Philly, so they must be great buddies!) or maybe even an NBL stunt?

...Or perhaps I'm just going overboard and Iverson actually did state these things, but I just missed exactly where he stated them.

hes still got a contract to play in turkey until late 2012 anyway prob just a publicity stunt for the failing sydney kings

i think that might be the future direction of the nbl.

the a-league has a history of bringing in veterans from the premier league etc to prop up the standard of the competition

if he comes it would be a sideshow. old, doesnt wanna practice, poor attitude.

Does anyone remember Romário's stint in the A-League? No? Exactly...

I've enjoyed AI over the years, but I can see a run in the NBL turning into a farce pretty quickly. If his drinking and gambling doesn't screw it for him, his attitude will.

I think its a terrible idea it just proves how crap the league really is.
When i see fowler playing for perth glory its plainly clear how much more skillful he is an how pathetic the a league players are.

Its embarrassing to see someone past his best making the rest look like complete amatuers.

NBL needs to stick with getting americans who just didnt make the NBA for some reason, an try to keep them for more than 1 season.
Like the good old days of the crawfords, dmac, copeland etc
