Read about Arsenal, but cant see us being interested. Was surprised to see him on the bench for the opener.

balague has apparently said on revista that casillas' friends have leaked to the media he's coming to us and he has 4 offers on the table. and that he wants to leave madrid

would love him as competition to joe, but he will never, ever leave madrid, and neither joe nor iker should be number 2 to the other. and i read that apparently this all came from diego lopez's wife. charming.

Im not too bothered losing out on Willian. 35 million is a lot of money and from everything I have seen of him, he just hasnt impressed me. Im actually still gutted about Mkhitaryan though.

Big target after big target we keep missing out on.

No idea who we would be after now. Not long left in the window either and we still need a CB and an AM.

Not sure if those Papa rumours are true and that we are gonna see how he goes for 6 months and then go back in for him in Jan if all looks good with his knees.

How contrasting has this been to the Van Persie and Fabregas sales?
Utterly different.

Barcelona didn't offer 90 Million for Fab. Fab didn't want to go to another club so that ruled out any potential bidding. Fab wanted to return to Barcelona.

Van Persie was out of contract within a year and Arsenal had no power to stop him from moving to United.

Arsenal over a barrel in both cases.

Arsenal made two mistakes. First letting VP's contract situation get to where it was, probably should have re-signed or sold the season before. Secondly once they were going to sell they should have done so, and got replacements in June or July. Cesc was the same, Nasri the same.

Instead they held out when it was obvious to everyone else that the players were leaving, and left themselves in a shitfight for new signings at the end of August.

Can't really blame them for cash in when the player can leave for nothing in a years time.

Great to see Wenger has learned from his previous mistakes then....

Just found the post I remember reading:

The figures can be easily explained.

1: Savings from under-funding of previous 5 seasons of £65m.

(figures from http://www.transferl...-transfers.html )
2012. Spend 61.5m, brought in 62.8m, total spend MINUS 1.3m
2011. Spent 8m, brought in 35m, total spend MINUS 27m
2010. Spent 18.5m, brought in 1m, total spend 17.5m
2009. Spent 32m, brought in 33m, total spend MINUS 1m
2008. Spent 87.2m, brought in 67.75, total spend 19.45m
In the previous 10 years or so we spent on average at least 10m-15m each window. With the steady increase in TV money, we should have had at least £15m each year, even taking the training ground and stadium in account. Based on that, we should have had £75m to spend over the last 5 years but spent a total of £7.45m. Thats leaves us with over £65m available + another £15m of this summer = £80m

2: Normal summer spending available of £15m

2: Increased shirt sponsorship of £7m on previous season.

3: Increased TV revenue of approximately £30m

4: Transfer sales of approx £23m

Total available = £140m.
Don't even need the rumored Joe Lewis money.

Agree with most of this, but also spending some money on bringing in players that had the quality to challenge for the title might have kept vP around.

Pardew, Kinnear and Graham Carr were spotted last night at Lyon reportedly watching over Gourcuff - might be a replacement for Cabaye if we sell him...

Given our terrible transfer window so far, I'm not holding my breath on that one. If Cabaye leaves, I hope it's to PSG :p

Spurs signing some real quality, and with ease, makes you wonder what teams like Arsenal, Liverpool and United are doing.

trying to get good players for under their value

spurs are signing players they need, at value or just over value. it's what you need to do. 28 mil for baines AND fellaini? that's just pointless. so is 10 mil for cabaye. it's just a waste of time.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to bring in Real Madrid skipper Iker Casillas with speculation rife that the Spain international could be signed to replace incumbent United goalkeeper David de Gea.
De Gea has been linked with a move to Barcelona, according to the Daily Express.

The 32 year old Casillas is said to be leaning towards a move to Old Trafford ahead of a possible switch to interested Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
Casillas - one of the world's best goalkeepers - found himself on the bench at times last season under Jose Mourinho and that doesn't seem to have changed with the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti - with the shot-stopper overlooked for Real's La Liga opener.

Why would we sell De Gea?

It would take ridiculous money from Barca.
I doubt it would happen myself, just what i saw on the site.
In saying that if DeGea wants to go back to Spain which has been rumoured for ages then it would make sense.
