Didn't seem to affect them? They cancelled the game! 2012 will always be looked at by the results of those finals and rarely about the circumstances surrounding them.

The Collingwood boys attended Jmac's funeral on Thursday and boarded a plane for Sydney that night. They could have been forgiven for not turning up at all the next night, but they did and played through despite clearly being affected by the circumstances and the emotional toll from the previous week. They went down valiantly to the eventual premiers but unfortunately it will forever be remembered as another year that Buckley failed.
Pendlebury talked about it in his podcast a few months ago, he said it was not a factor, Look, it might be it might not, i am not denying it might have affected some of the players, i was just setting odds and if i was doing the odds at the end of 2011 season i think anyone would have said Collingwood and Geelong/Hawthourn would have been favorites. but they still have to play the game.

I'm hesitant to buy in to this discussion, however a MM lead Collingwood could well have been hosting that final in Melbourne on the back of a two week break for all we know.

The whole hand over has created far too many sliding doors moments to speculate on which is why it irritates me every time it's mentioned. Overall it's so damn Collingwood to be talking about something that happened 8 years ago rather than focusing on the here and now!

Things move quickly, we don't have any idea how quick we might return to the higher levels.
If Grundy, Treloar, De Goey, Maynard, Moore, Elliot all excel next season who knows....
I'm not defeatist, because once you are you half way to losing...

Threepeat? Serious question, you believe that?

Not a chance, personally I thought we had planets align in 2010, we are a very good side that grabbed one before the Hawthorn beast awoke, Geelong had a very minor dip, and St Kilda like us lacked more class.

Or we had Jolly. No Jolly no chance we win 2010. The missing piece. Ball also helped.
That we almost looked on on 2011 is our missed opportunity in that era of side. But Geelong beat us three times in three games. We were only second best side.

We want a theee in a row, we'll need quite a few more elite types running around.
But that's the challenge ofcourse, being a great team....
2011 would of been in the bag if we didn't self inflict ourselves saintly with the ridiculous hand over of coaches which was the elephant in the room all year. If we won that and we would of, the boys would of gotten up again in 2012. Hell we were fractured in 2012 as a team and we still made a prelim.

Jmacs passing is an intangible. Adelaide lost their coach and it didn't seem to affect them. Injuries? didn't affect (effect) the dogs last year. as for setting the odds. i was setting them pre what happened, thats why they are odds!! i dont bet on football but i do on the ponies...
Yet they've completely derailed their performances this year. Premiers to 10th and apparently Beveridge is a genius, go figure.

I'm unsure what that feel like.

I thought you were in the Woodsmen, hardly serf material but I digress.

Actually I reckon, only a guess, Ed is your Chardonnay Left person. That's only a guess but suspect he'd vote Labor. He would vote for his brother in the state seat of Broadmeadows but he lives in Toorak these days.
He may do postal vote? :}

2011 was down to Malthouse's gameday ineptitude and stubbornness. Nothing more.

Lower than a serf. A peon who takes teflon eds suites to be dry cleaned.
We've been hit hard at the bowzer.. Bucks walks into the Master Mason's office.. 'Hey Ed
. Flick as one of those $100 petrol vouchers' Ed.. 'No worries I'll just write it off my son'.

Actually stand aside and allow the season and at least the next one to play out while learning more about his future gig.
All Eddie had to do was offer Mick an extension for 1 or 2 years around mid 2011. We were headed for our first premiership defence since the 4 in a row. It was historic territory.
Exactly. It things could well of been different if he knew he was coaching on. We essentially blew it in the end. Just sad.

Would have been nice if it happened that way.

My gripe with this whole thing is not necessarily Buckley's re-appointment. If he is deemed to be the best candidate then so be it. What should of happened though is that Buckley be made to re-apply for the job with all of the other prospective candidates, which clearly didn't happen because you can't formally interview applicants until their season is done.

Even if they went through the process, interviewed other candidates and doctored the outcome, at least they show to the members/supporters that everything is now done with due diligence and consideration.

It's the hypocrisy of saying that you went through an extensive and exhausting review only to not go through an extensive search for the right coach which really irks me.
Like having a FD clean out only we didn't do it.. just ole bill has been boned and everyone else has been retained. Burns was poached not boned so in essence again we have been lied to as members. There will be no clean out like Richmond did, the review was a farce and we continue on the mediocrity train... Choo, Chooooo. Fantastic.

I'm pushing for it to replace aristocrat
Bourgeois initially ment "those residing within the borough", much as we use the term urbanite. As more of the middle class moved into cities it was associated with the middle class and hedonism. Contemporary usage it's the upper and upper middle classes (finance and capital) while the lower middle class (managers, professionals etc) are the petit bourgeois.

So gimpy your definition is closer to contemporary usage than your getting credit for.

If you want to believe or you have knowledge that Geoff Walsh is someone that was bullied into putting this report together to suit Ed it's up to you.
Tell you what I understand, Geoff Walsh by all reports I have seen is a man of integrity and a man that knows footy clubs backwards, better than us two...babe.
It's hillbilly stuff to think he just went along with this review just for show. I believe it's what he truly believes is best for the club in its entirety and the board rubber stamped it
We will see. Don't be surprised if he leaves us next year.
