My post wasn't directed at any one poster or other.
People can determine for their good selves who they consider rude or otherwise.
Regarding the aforesaid Mr Krueger. I'm quite sure I've never been demeaning nor arrogant (borderline or otherwise) to K. In fact on the whole my responses to K are only when he directs a post to me and my usual response is "never change k" or some such. I'd say that's not demeaning, rude or arrogant. But people can judge however they wish.
For what it's worth, suggest that K has been at times very pointed or direct at me, not always graceful. but I'm not too fussed.
Now to the vexed question of Mr Buckley and reappointment. And why I would have also reappointed him for a further two years.
The given know facts:
Nathan has coached us for 6 seasons.
The first 2 seasons he coached us to finals including a preliminary final.
The next 4 seasons we have not made finals.
The other points, my reasoning:
I'm into the strong belief players are far more important than coaches, broken up as Leigh Matthews has suggested. 80% players 20% coaches and other factors.
A coach must have authority, must be in control, be the boss, understand the game, run the show.
A coach should have a plan for the list.
A coach must have the ability to make decisions, tough decisions.
Prefer a coach to be articulate.
Prefer a coach to interact to understand learning is life long.
On all this Nathan gets ticks across the board.
He is not a Neeld, Rhode, Gellie looking weak type.
Nathan has not lost the group.
After 2 years Nathan made the tough call, which I agree with, the list wasn't good enough to win a flag anymore. Jolly was done as were others, needed to gut the list, he did.
Now comes results. In many ways that's all we have.
But this season particularly I have seen improvement.
We didn't lose any game by a hiding.
We didn't but should have won quite a few more games and actually been close to finals.
The young group are coming together, playing together, getting their bearings. The tide is turning.
On this basis I'm keen for Nathan to complete his work with his list.
I'm not a panic merchant. I want to stay the course.
If this group is good enough Nathan will have succcess.
If not, Buckley will dissapear into coaching oblivion.
I understand that many people believe the coach is the most important ingredient of all; I just don't hold that view. I'm of the belief EVERY single great coach is that because they have great players first and foremost.
And on that, and on Nathan's control and authority and he ticks the boxes for me, so he can continue.
And that he was a brilliant footballer for us, means zilch to me. That's just an aside.
But he does look like a coach to me.
That's my take.
