Is there a section like the MCC Members' Section where nobody can enter at all without a membership?
Also this place looks a lot like the MCG.

I was going to say based on images and footage from the Scorchers/Lions T20 match it has a Etihad feel to it. Probably be different in person though.

Mandurah and Joondalup lines should be fine for that, the carparks are huge. Other lines might struggle. But that's my point - if everyone gets the train, then everyone loses because it's going to be a horrible experience.
But the way they've designed it leaves people with very little choice.
From where I live always catch the train @ Glendalough station and the parking space there is not huge, unlike Stirling but then you have to walk a country mile from where you park your car to the station to catch the train, and my legs aren't getting any younger:p.

Also I chose to park at Burswood and take the train. Driving to the station and up to the Transperth carpark I found the carpark closed and a sign saying closed for today and for next Sunday's ODI. Slightly annoying to find it closed without warning. Also confused as to why they would close a carpark when they want us to take the trains. At least today the Casino parking was free but that may not be the case next week and moving forward.

That's probably why. To stop driving to a station near the ground and use the train from thier local station.

I must be the only one in WA who didn't go today .. the thoughts of dodging 100's of prams and Zimmer frames put me right off :)

Seat I was originally assigned.

Really happy we moved away from it. Can't believe they were pushing the no bad seat in the house line and charging $65 a game to sit in these seats. Should be classed as restricted view imo.
Can see some very pissed off people complaining to the clubs when they sit in all those seats for the first time.

Yet Burswood is my local

Actually you missed out I was there from 12pm and the crowds were pretty sparse all afternoon.

Pretty sure I found the worst seats in the house with about 50% obstructed view. First row in level 5 behind the stairs coming up, the bars in front of you and then the bars for the stairs handrail behind those obscure most of the ground.

Overall was very impressed, plenty of space in seats and good view from most points.
Took the obligatory panorama shots.

Few other points worth mentioning.

At last a little bit of standing areas along the back of the first level. But only a little. A few small areas with a little metal bar railing you can stand at, that is marked off with a white rectangle. A notice with limits on how many people are allowed to stand are on the bar. Will be interesting if they will tolerate people just setting up and standing there all game, or will make people move on eventually.

A few lifts and escalators to get up to the higher levels but stairs will still be the main way of getting up and down.

Rain may be able to get in through the gap in the top, but it would need to be coming in almost sideways to do so. Maybe with some swirling wind a little will come in.

Goal posts pretty close the the fence, wondering if the boundary will be that close the whole way around. Near the bench area there is a spot where it drops away, could be the field club? Just seems as if a player went over the boundary in that spot they would be in for a nice fall.

Sound system pumps. Didn't see the lighting as went during the day. The big screens were fantastic.

Mid strength Atomic Pale Ale was decent. 1000% better than Carlton Mid.

The kids enjoyed the play area. A few BBQ's were placed around there also. Wondering if will be able to be used on event days. Only thing letting it down was it kind of needs a bridge over that little lake back to the ground. You either have to walk a fair way back or go the long way around to get to the train station from it.

Feels a little bland inside. Probably something they will fix over time. I mean no artworks or anything semi interesting to look at, just concrete walls. Did have a wall with WA Test players listed but nothing like the walk behind the members at the WACA.

So many some small nit picking, but the place was pretty damn amazing and such an upgrade on Subi!

I went today and was quite impressed. The cup holders on every seat..nice move. I also love the areas outside of the stadium, can really generate a festival type atmosphere around the place before a big game.

I laughed at all the BBQ’s around the ground in the parks - as you can’t park any where near the Stadium, are people really going to take a back pack full of snags and salad on the train to have a picnic there??

Building a small bridge across to the lake would be a great idea, as it takes a fair while to walk around the lake to the playground for the kids to have a play.

Inside the stadium Could do with some more artwork / memorabilia around the place to make it more interesting but hopefully this will come with time.

Otherwise a very very impressive stadium, I really liked the bigger bar areas up on the 5th level, they looked like a great place to congregate at the breaks with other people. The sports lounge area on level 3 did look fantastic (it was closed to the public but you could look in) where as the BankWest area ( the $5k/yr stadium seating ) looked pretty lousy... they stopped us getting too close to it but from a distance it just looked like they had a basic bar area behind their seats.

Richie Benaud would've loved this stadium

Just look at all that cream, the bone, the white, the off-white, the ivory and the beige

Lol. I s**t you not I was watching this clip about an hour before this post:

Get out of my head

On topic, thanks to those giving us reports/photos of today. Heading in next Sunday and my excitement is now at about a 10. Anyone know when "The Camfield" (the pub/beer garden etc) is due to open? From the photos is looks like there's still a bit of construction going on.

1st two rows of tier 3 should be restricted viewing with the amount of the metal balustrading blocks the view.

Was disappointed the main stuff I wanted to see (non-public areas like changerooms, media, coaches box, etc.) weren't accessible.

You can book full tours accessing all areas through the stadium website. $25 a head.

imagine how pissed you would be if ypur Fremantle counterpart had broken his cup holder and the stadium was slow to fix it...

So should the back few rows of the blocks on the northern wing - you can't actually see the wing from there. I assume the South wing would be the same. Glad I didnt take the seats I was originally offered.

For such an otherwise awesome venue, it's amazing how many seats can't see the whole ground. The top tier actually needed to be steeper to provide better views.

That’s the case with the MCG as well, but I would say it’s worse at the MCG as the back 15 rows at least of the Northern stand you can’t see the boundary line in front of you.

I spoke to somebody from the MCC and they said restricted view is defined as being unable to see the goals or a part of the goals, which is why some restricted view seats at the Footy aren’t classified as restricted for Cricket, as you can see the whole pitch.

some of the photos posted here looked so similar to the artists graphics on the footy websites.

The whole "not a bad seat in the house" mantra will get blown out of the water for the first Eagles and Dockers home game on talk back radio you'd imagine. Wonder why the glass windows with reinforced steel needed to be erected the way it has? Subi doesnt use them so why this new stadium?

Im off to the cricket this weekend and cant wait to see a full house and what the atmosphere will be like!
