Perth Stadium (Optus Stadium)

That's what I thought too. If you have a look at the picture I posted above, there is room at the back for another half a dozen rows of seats, which would be about 10,000 all up. They would be even worse seats than the current nose-bleed section.
You say that like the current nose-bleed seats are bad though.

Having sat in both $25 nosebleed seats and $2000 per season cushioned seats, I can say that in terms of the viewing experience, it's pretty negligible. There aren't many bad seats at Optus.

Research to be released today shows 22,887 people came from interstate to watch the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers in 22 games.

Another 8172 flew over to see the Eagles play in the qualifying final against Collingwood and preliminary final against Melbourne.

They stayed in Perth for an average 4.4 nights, spending $245 each day.

The data from Metrix Consulting also showed 25,812 people from regional WA travelled to Perth to watch the football and stayed an average 3.14 nights.

They spent $295 each day.

At each AFL match, 6000 seats are set aside for general admission and another 1000 seats for tourism packages.

It helps guarantee that people who travel to Perth will be able to get tickets to matches.

New addition for the cricket season.

Also seems like the Optus Stadium signs that we’re on the light fixtures above each wing have been removed for the cricket season. Makes sense as all official CA advertising has referred to the stadium as ‘Perth Stadium’ not ‘Optus Stadium’

Can anyone remember if the branded signage was there for the ODI last summer?

The ‘Optus Stadium’ signage on the wings wasn’t there yet - that got installed around round 6 from memory. But they did have Optus Stadium advertising on the ad boards all around the ground and on all 5 tiers - this wasn’t there this year, most of it was replaced by Alinta Energy.

Thanks.
I guess this goes with the most prominent of the the two "Telstra Plaza" signs being covered at the southern entrance of Adelaide Oval. They get a xx% clean stadium. Which means if it's the same the Optus Stadium may return for Scorchers games but not finals.

Quaint. But it kinda defeats the purpose of having a giant video screen ;)
There's only one camera in use for this shield game (seems odd for the most technologically advanced stadium in the country) so putting replays and live coverage on screen for the 1000 people there wouldn't achieve much, especially considering they're all going to be sitting behind the bowler most likely.

For Australia and Scorchers games they show the scoreboard, team list etc while the ball is live, then change to replays in between deliveries. No reason they can't just substitute the generic CA scoreboard graphics for the WACA scoreboard (although I doubt it'll happen)

yeah, the few hundred that was there today were all literally sitting relatively close to behind the bowler, especially as only what is normally the WACA members area was opened.

Was a decent crowd when i was there yesterday, good result considering it was $10 to get in when shield games are normally free and there was a big line at the gate when i got to the ground. Yeah the only spot you could sit was the members area the rest of the stadium was blocked off.

That’s odd, guess (fl)optus are no longer sponsoring our national cricket team?
