I am unaware that Chief has rescinded his long-standing policy of moderators being entitled to have opinions like everyone else. In any case, if you think it's a moderation issue (on a board I don't moderate) rather than a case of you simply not liking what a poster has said, the rules encourage you to discuss it with admin one-on-one rather than whinging about it publicly.

Returning to the topic of opinions I have long held the opinion that heartland clubs systematically rort the cap by leveraging third party payments. The AFL handwaving it doesn't change my opinion on that whatsoever. Just like their handwaving of the Demons tanking issue doesn't constitute innocence either. The Shied deal is just a continuation of such rorts according to my well honed nose for VFL shenanigans.

There are many other posters in this thread who also believe that the Shiel deal doesn't pass the sniff test. Their status as mdoerator or non-moderator in inconsequential.
I never said you shouldn't have an opinion however should you be able to outright lie?

You stated Essendon are cheating the salary cap on Shiel and that he single handedly cost us the game. Wrong on both accounts.

Just because you don't believe the AFL giving it the tick of approval means it's legit doesn't make you right, in fact it makes you wrong. The fact is that it is a legal deal, hence no salary cap cheating, hence you claiming it is fact = you lying.

Also Shiel didn't "single handedly" lose us the game today but that's more of an opinion thing, with yours being completely wrong.

Supposedly his worst efficiency of his career.

It’s clearly problematic for the team.

Are the Bombers asking too much of him?
Half the league are shit users of the footy. It's a large reason the game is the way it is. No need to single him out.

Half the league aren’t on big money like he is.

Shiel was also talked about as a massive reason why the Bombers would be a different team this year.

Think it’s fair to ask if he’s performing to expectations so far.

Just on the Shiel deal, your lack of sophistication from a corporate perspective is exposed.

Dangerfield and Treloar are 2 players on big money who butcher the ball. Kick and disposal % actually flatters a player more than shows as a negative.

Ah, the old "your opinion is subjective and wrong, mine is objective and true" thing. Cool.

When a guy gets 34 posessions it stands out when he he has an off day with the boot.

He had a very high percentage disposals by foot as well at 22 v 12 handballs. With us I'd expect to see him disposing by handball a lot more, particularly playing as much inside as he did today.

The other noticeable change was his TOG at 92% was very high. With us figures in the 70's were typical and surprisingly low for a player as durable as Dylan.

My conclusions are he's still fitting in and learning the game of the Bombers mids around him. We also used him as more of a burst player and rested him more.

It's noticeable that most of his kicking errors come after breaking from stoppages and running free a considerable distance. Many players struggle to kick well after a hard run. High TOG stats and constant frenetic activity around the ball cant help either.

I think it'll be fine as the Bombers coaches understand his strengths and weaknesses better, and he learns his teamates games better.

He's just not that good.

People loved him at GWS because most people barely saw the Giants play. And he stood out because he was a high draft pick and an outside player who got lots of easy touches.

He is shit scared of contact, never lays a tackle, constantly gets easy hands when he's just yelling from the outside. Now he's at a worse team and he's being shown up – less touches, less options, higher pressure.

Hugely overrated prissy little campaigner.

Bullshit

He was equal first in clearances in 2016 and second to Ward in 2017. He has always been an inside player, strong on the outside as well. AA in 2017.

Your embarrassingly ignorant.

All supporters bagging him would have him in their midfield in an instant. Takes players time to adapt to new teams
For our supporters we remember WHE running the ball down the wing and kicking long and straight goals from the 50. Very few players can do that. Most, like Shiel, should looking to hand off after a run.
