I feel sorry for the police officers who have to deal with these nutjobs. Armed nutjobs.

So much material around that demonstrates the World has officially gone mad ...

So it's not racist when a bus carrying white kids can't get under but turns racist when the kids aren't white. And funnily, you wouldn't get a lefty disagreeing. The most you'd get would be from the usual types with their, "big deal, why does it matter, why are you triggered". They can never discuss the actual absurdity of some of this total madness.

It was "said" that city architects deliberately planned it that way to stop certain people from going outside of the area

How is it 3.8m one way and 3.0 another? The US bridge is 3.3m. Nothing would surprise me re racism in the US, depending on when the bridge was built. But lack of foresight and penny pinching in terms of funding decisions is likely more common.

Todd is flowing in Alice right now and there's a topical issue regarding crossing to the golf course suburbs. There's a river bed level causeway that gets closed pretty quickly if there's flow. At the other end is a bridge that, for arguments sake, can handle about 1.5m before it gets closed. Current flow probably saw that bridge closed causing people and cars having to cross via another bridge abd drive through the power station to get to the suburb.

When there's talk about a bigger bridge, councillors, public servants etc get fixated on the existing bridge needing to be higher. So the solution is always to tear that down and rebuild. So we end up with a causeway crossing that can handle 15cm of flow and a bigger bridge, rather than a 1.5m bridge and a bigger bridge. And that's the solution before any discussion re cost is involved. It's insanity, "we need to fix the bridge, it's not high enough". Fix the causeway you morons, the bridge is fine.

The Age reporting that it is bad to apologise (my underlining) !!

"The Victorian Public Service Commission’s inclusive language policy encourages all public servants, “regardless of gender identity, to include their pronouns in email signatures.”

Pronoun use refers to the she/her, he/him or they/them you’re starting to see on email signature blocks and Zoom screens. Declaring the pronouns we use about ourselves is a respectful acknowledgement that some people who are gender-diverse do not want to be described with traditional, gendered pronouns.

The commission’s policy advises every public servant to always ask what pronouns another person wants to use. If you slip up in a formal presentation, “seek out the person privately after the event to acknowledge your mistake.” If you make a mistake in a casual conversation, “correct yourself as soon as you realise your mistake,” thank anyone who corrects you, and “move on with the conversation.” Critically, “avoid apologising, so no one feels obliged to say, ‘It’s okay,’ if that’s not how they feel.
