Is anyone considering Clarko's health condition? Will it limit his ability to be a head coach? I'm still clutching at straws that he will retire he's coaching duties Monday and be coming over as senior assistant. Yeah I know I have problems.

This doesn't fit any reports of how "excited" we will be.

I wouldn't be happy with this at all.

With the build up from several sources, it couldn't be Ratten.
Definition - excited - Being in a state of excitement; emotionally aroused; stirred.

I reckon that would fit ... there would be raised emotions galore !!

That scenario would be a huge let down to what we're expecting/hoping.

Too much love for Bassett on here by misguided Norwood fans. If people think Bassett is a revolutionary move then the revolution is rooted. It would be too much of the same. Another ex-crow for another job. To act as drastically as the AFC did in sacking Sando, and then to appoint Bassett, would undo all the momentum of change. In fact I hate the idea.
I really didn't want Goodwin. Bassett is the only ex Crow I'd be happy with.

He has run a club and proven he can do all the things required (set a vision & game plan, work with fitness staff, medical staff, players, management, supporters etc). He's also shown he can make tough decisions (delist players), he has shown an ability to get the best out of players (development) and had complete buy in across the board.

Malthouse said the other night, promoting an assistant coach comes with big risk because they haven't shown any ability to sit in the chair as the head of the club. Bassett has done this even though it was at one level below afl. Since then he has had a year in the afl system to keep up to date with the current game plans/trends. Plus he's worked with Bomber, Craigy and Goodwin in that time.

Clarkson was in the same boat as Bassett except he did one more year as an assistant. His job was harder than the Crows job as Hawks were right near the bottom of the ladder.

Have you forgotten the infamous Gabba choke in 09 or the 2011 pass mark of "winning a final". The whole point of getting rid of Sanderson is the quest to find an elite coach that will bring success to the club. There are plenty of "decent" coaches out there (Ratten, Voss, Laidley etc), but I would hope that the club is actually wanting more than that otherwise we would have just stuck with Sanderson. Decent coaches win games, but great coaches win premierships.
I've stated this elsewhere but I'll say it again, I've heard ex-premierships coaches talk about how they were better coaches the second time around. While I would obviously love a Clarkson or Longmire to sign up, it seems unlikely they will. Therefore, someone like Ratten might be worth a shot. He's had experience, performed well as a senior coach and has since been a premiership winning assistant.

While he may have had failures in his time at Carlton, you would hope he had learned from them. Our own Messiah, Blighty, failed to win a flag at Geelong with a team that boasted some absolutely insane talent. It didn't mean he wasn't a good coach.

Surely to God, one day a club is going to throw a life line to an ex-coach who mightn't have succeeded his first go round. I'd be intrigued to see Ratten at Adelaide. It might work orbit might not. The same could be said of any of the names floating about.

Once again we see that a glaring weakness at AFC is expectation management.

The Clarko thing has not just been BF rubbish - initially Wilson backed it and AA has also been hinting at it - and on occasions they have mentioned his name too.

Roo had every chance to douse it yesterday but the statement did nothing but increase speculation.

If they don't have a Clarko there has been plenty of chance to manage the expectation that has been generated.

The "excitement" notion doesn't come from a wide range of sources. It comes from Croweater78, and Rowie.

Not your most reliable sources.

Clarkson ain't coming here. I have little idea of who the hell we are getting, but it's not him

Well you are certainly back tracking
No pointing out fact!

Say we landed clarko and lose the first 5 rounds and finish 13th at seasons end ?

Say we get a no name assistant and we win the first 5 games and land top 4?

Reality is whoever we get the results are unknown but I trust the board will select the right coach that is available that will fit best with the clubs change!

they will go all in or nothing and aim for success strait off the bat! But no point having hype until pen is to paper
