Ice cream day! What's happening on Tuesday?
This appears to be an issue with most coaches.Poor communicator with fringe players. Hopefully improved that from time at Hawks
Dew wouldn't be talking porkies to avoid any scrutiny during Grand Final week would he?

Not the good ones. This appears to be an issue with most coaches.
No, sorry I should have said most unsuccessful ones. Sando, Buckley, Voss. All of the same era.Not the good ones.
...If it was Gold Coast instead of us who had the coaching vacancy no one would be mentioning Bassett.
What's happening on Tuesday?
This exactly.
Bass coaching is a very romantic notion. No room for romance in footy.
gosh not long till Tuesday lol
Should I take the day off?
I mentioned this before and had rocks thrown at me.The romance is largely with the Norwood contingent of Crows supporters
I just want the best person available
I think Bassett will be a very good senior coach one day.
Ideally though he'd spend several more years in the AFL system, perhaps experience a different role, different club or different senior coach, and then step into a senior role.
It's only because our job is available that he's being mentioned this early in his career. If it was Gold Coast instead of us who had the coaching vacancy no one would be mentioning Bassett.
Still, sometimes planets don't align. It might be a fraction early for Bassett in an ideal world but you can't always get exactly what you want.
No matter who coaches us Camporeale, Clarke and Bickley cannot be part of the coaching team. Regardless of whether they are any good, they have been there a long time, we have had minimal success during their time and we need some fresh voices and ideas.
If it's Bolton, our club will get much media attention with all his press conferences......No, I'd say tommorow the news trail will start to raise heads! I've got a good indication we will have a coach this week
The only trick he needs up his sleeve is a huge wad of money. We don't need another rookie coach. That would be a backward step considering our recent appointments. If we want to stop the pattern of player exodus we have to appoint quality. Unfortunately there are not many of that calibre available so will be a tough ask but let's see if our new boss has some tricks up his sleeve.
This exactly.
Bass coaching is a very romantic notion. No room for romance in footy.
He'd be less romantic than Bickley or Goodwin coaching us though...
It wasn't 3-4 years, it was 1 year. In his first year he took Norwood to 2nd, a kick and a broken jaw to Phillips away from winning the flag from the juggernaut Centrals.Agree with what you've said here, basically the same thoughts that are running through my head.
Its probably a touch early for Bassett, my ideal would be a coach >40 years old who has had experience at multiple clubs along with success at junior grades.
However, beyond perhaps Clarkson and Longmire, who probably aren't really available anyway, there's not many in the field that particularly excite me and when I look at Bassett, I love what he was able to do at Norwood.
He has essentially turned a club from a basket case, to one primed for success well into the future over the space of 3-4 years. What he has also done though is show a real capacity to get the absolute best out of his players, he has turned average SANFL footballers, into gun SANFL players and decent AFL footballers. It would be interesting to see what he could do with players with a higher level of talent.
One thing that I think defines the absolute best coaches, is they can make average footballers look like A-Graders and if Bass could translate what he did at SANFL level to AFL level he will make for an extremely good coach and perhaps he is the best option, with some senior heads around him.
In saying that I would not want Brett ratten but the others could be alright heard a lot of good things about Leigh Tudor although he is bad with the media apparently.I've still got crows supporters saying that clarko will be out next coach but that is wishful thinking. I reckon it'll be one of these
Nathan Bassett
Stuart dew
Brett ratten
Leigh Tudor
So true, but really the AFC has shocked everyone by being so decisive and unforgiving in it's sacking of sando, drawing vitriol from journos and Football identities all over Australia.I don't consider Dew as the right fit for the AFC, but that's from my distant view. As Mike Smyth said this appointment is so important. We just cannot have sacked Sando and cast our fate to the winds! Bassett put Norwood back together where other coaches over many years had failed. He has the runs on the board. I fail to see how the unproven Dew, even with a couple of extra years at assistant AFL level, (and excluding the calibre of his girlfriends) can be compared with Bassett.
