Of course they would be happy how they lucked out with clarkson. The state of, and the climate surrounding, the AFC doesn't call for bargain basement dealings such as rookie coaches, unless of course they come as a successor along with a proven gun coach, or at the very least, that coach as a mentor. There is no room to gamble, this is actually make or break time for the AFC.
Quick fixes in make our break situations rarely lead to to best outcomes.

There's Clarkson, Worsfold, Longmire and Bomber, then that's negligible difference on paper between the next fifty candidates.

You look at each candidate, ask if they've got all the qualities you want in a coach, then pull the trigger. Experience should be supplementary to whether or not you think the guy can do the job - Sanderson, Watters and Neeld all had the experience, now they're on the scrap heap.

People aren't serious about Brett Ratten are they?
Why no interest in Ratten?

I reckon he'd go alright second time around. Hindsight shows he was doing well with the Blues and building something until they had a shocker of a year with injuries.

So he's now crystal clear on the ruthlessness of AFL coaching and had spent the last couple of years working under the best coach in the game.

My preference is still a Bassett/Clarkson double act of course.

And then it's about the clubs they've gone to, the quality of players there and so on..
Some would have been good without being great, but also walked into the right place, right time..
Others, wrong place, wrong time..

Fatten is far from the worst option, would see him as a good appointment as snr assistant for sure

As senior coach I agree his record seems pretty good in light of their efforts since, shows he was getting good output from the group, just that the group was overrated

However I don't think it would be received with complete optimism in general if it was head coach

Bone reckons we shouldn't waste our time on guys like Clarkson and Woosha because they won't come, but then says we should be chasing Bomber Thompson.

I think ratten & sumich would either be a good additions, both hold strong quality and would bring a fresh change to the side

That's to say if clarko is just a dream to far

Both Ratten & sumich should be in the mix including Bailey role.

Don't think Hinkley walks from Port, for any amount of money at the moment. Clarko on the other hand.

I must be listening to a very different station as I don't hear any of thoes comments.

It's amazing what someone hears and then interprite thast to suit their own agenda.

Caroline Wlison says a Marl Ricciuto is going OTT on this issue - she is bitter and twisted
Caroline Wlison say Crows will land Clarkson - shre is a genous and the best footy scrib going.

Three clubs thought these guys could coach. Not all rookie coaches get to go to the ball. There are as many failed rookie coaches as there are successful ones. No coach in Australia is totally ungettable.

If the "nasty things" had any basis in fact I might still consider Rowe the village idiot. Not so anymore.
Right and the easiest thing to do is dismiss them without actually knowing any truth behind them and then just say he is still bitter.

Facts - who needs them.
