I didn't see the doco, but the reason Sando needed to go was because he let our standards slip, which is a fundamental no-no of coaching. Listening to Sloane, Crouch and Talia's interviews in the weeks leading up to his sacking confirmed that.

The rumours surrounding his sacking are pretty classless though. Some people love sticking the knife in.

Really do not want Bolten. He is to positive and happy and reminds me to much of Sando. We need someone a bit different for the job.

I would love if the club Brought in Ratten and then Basset as an assistant coach (perhaps even the other way around).

If the coach was Bassett, why hasn't the announcement been made?

I'm telling you, we have Clarkson, irrespective of the denials from both Clarkson and Adelaide. See the AFC press release - words chosen very carefully - 'we wouldn't approach a coach in grand final week'. That's because we did it two weeks earlier.

One expected Clarkson to say what he said otherwise it would have created unnecessary distractions for the HFC

Gee, that doco made me feel sorry for Sando as he just seems like such a good bloke BUT the way he was so over-joyed at a three goal win vs Collingwood says a lot IMO. I was at that game. Collingwood were pathetic that night. A good side would have won by 10 goals. We smashed them in every statistical category but barely won.

I thought it made him look out of his depth.

this has been bouncing around in my head over the past few days

Jars said he was still fielding calls yesterday morning and said he hoped we get Clarkson. I just can't see it though, he's going to need politician skills to justify those comments.

I think it will be because they want to announce a panel. If they just roll out a Bassett that won't be enough to give the club the boost and vindication they need. There has to be a strong panel of coaches announced and some of them might still be coaching.

I think one thing that has gone under a lot of people's radar is that the Gold Coast are currently doing a full review of their football department. Some in the media believe that McKenna along with others will lose their job. McCartney isn't exactly safe at Bulldogs either.

The club has stated that they won't speak to coaches who are in GF preparations. I also feel that they wouldn't approach GC staff directly until anything official is announced.

I feel that while we have made contact with a few people we are waiting until next week to speak with Clarkson, Ratten, Bolton, Dew and depending on the outcome of the WB and GC review McKenna and McCartney. It would be extremely disappointing from the club if they signed a coach and didn't even touch base with these people to see where they are at. Also whether they would be interested in a move to Adelaide.

I believe that McKenna will be at the AFC in some capacity next season (personal opinion).

Not sure that will appease the member base either.

We need a proven successful AFL coach and personally I'm not a great fan of Bassett.

A proven successful coach would be great but unfortunately not many of them available. I think Bassett would bring a level of excitement given what he did at Norwood

On Choco, I know via a friend that he's still clinging onto the dream of senior coaching again. Don't think he'd bother moving into another assistant gig as he's hanging on for the real thing.

Was one of the players who had issues with Sando's failure to adhere to the standards they'd agreed upon.

His B&F speech made it pretty clear how he felt.
Yeah ok it was that side of things, makes sense with taila being meticulous with preparation. I was thinking of him not being spoken to by Sando.
