Seeing as nobody truly has any idea who our coach is likely to be, Personally I'd take Luke Hodge tomorrow if he decided to hang up his boots...just a gut feel, I think he is a great coach in waiting!

The whole scenario has been fascinating to say the least. The fact that Sando was cut with 2 years to go, the timing of Sando's departure, the seemingly distant approach from the selection panel and the 'quick action' supposedly coming after the grand final. All seems to point to a plan and a person in mind. Lots of names being suggested but I can't remember a time where an AFL club has rolled out a new coaching panel at once (other than new clubs). It has been the head coach and then others later. Not saying that is what is happening but it appears that way. Interesting approach!

sydney and the dogs were both rabbles before he arrived, he turned both of them clubs around and made them contenders

sydney were a rabble? rubbish.
it was barassi who turned that club around. he left when they were on a massive up and in eades first year they reached the GF. it all went down hill from there.

Ye not sure about that.

Rowey obviously has contacts in the AFC. The other day he was relaying some info from the club to supporters. That info was:

1) this will be finalised quickly.
2) the club knows what they want and who they want, and have gone after the candidates.
3) there are 2 candidates and the club would be happy with either one.
4) confirmed that Sumich, Dew, Burns and Tudor have not been spoken to by the club. Pretty sure Sumich himself has also been quoted as not being contacted.
5) confirmed Bassett has
6) sounded like they have also spoken to Bolton and Ratten.
7) the head coach will be announced by the end of next week

Whilst some bag Rowey he is close to the club and has the contacts. I'm going on the assumption his info is accurate and he's not feeding the supporters a line.
"By the end of the week " - these guys do realise trade week starts Friday.

If its not someone who was a senior or assistant in todays game, then what's the hold up. If its not someone from todays game, the appointment should have been made public last week.

I can see how a Ratten or Eade would be considered a big step backwards in some supporters eyes ... but really we have no clue.

I don't think either are the right person to sell the message that we are getting "the best of the best of the best" - so don't expect either to be announced as head-coach next week.

I have no idea who it will be. Having said that I believe that the new coach had been talked to weeks ago (not sure how long ago) and that the sacking of Sando was part of this plan. So I reckon Roo has been planning this for some time.

Roo may have his man but it will be interesting to see how we accept him. Wont be happy if its Bolton.

Agreed. I think its Dew as Head Coach and ROK as Assistant. It can be the only reason to why there was a delay.

I would prefer Bassett, but I dont think it is.

barassi got them on the up finally in his last year after a few wooden spoons, but eade took them to regular finals appearances, they were at Melbourne levels before eade took over. to think eade is a club wrecker is way off the mark, he is probably the one of the best coaches of the modern era without a premiership.

no, they were melbourne levels before barassi fixed them. eade got the spoils from barassi's work.
