Right now(ish): Swans, Freo, Carlton

In a few years: Gold Coast, Hawthorn, North - all 3 need to nail drafting/development/FA

The next AFL Dynasty?

We may just be witnessing it right now....

2023 - Runners Up
2024 - Premiers
2025 - Currently second favourites for the flag
2026 and beyond - very well placed with their list profile.
They have an incredible list of excellent young players

Yeah Carlton are prime to get a couple of flags over a 3 or 4 or 5 year period

Essendon are a chance too. Yes they havent won a final in 20 full seasons but they look like winning finals under Brad Scott.
This has aged well..

Adelaide have the possible makings of a dynasty. They’ve done a fantastic job of locking down their talent for a few years.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Freo. They're a couple of years off but their young talent is as good as anyone. It seems just people don't realise they were a younger team then Gold Coast this weekend.
Dockers have to win a grand final 1st or at least make one

Lions win it this year and their dynasty is confirmed, with the window wide open for other years.

Think the injuries will make it hard, but they will give it a red hot crack.

Going nowhere with JL
I disagree. I wouldn't say going no where.

Best case scenario is Justin Longmuir becomes a similar coach like Ken Hinkley at Port or Brad Scott at North Melbourne.

Justin Longmuir has been our coach since 2020. Its already 2025. He will probably hang around until 2029. Hoping for finals in 2026, 2027 and 2028.

Hoping a prelim final. But 3 Elim finals in a row with one or 2 finals wins will do for me.

That's fair. You could easily argue that Brisbane are in the middle of a dynasty right now. Literally one kick shy of being on the cusp of a three-peat this year. There's also no reason why they can't win in 2026 or beyond. The father-son rule has set them up very well with the Ashcrofts and Fletcher clearly going to be future stars of the comp (current Norm Smith Medallist Will Ashcroft arguably already is). They're also refreshing their list with good players in their prime every year with the likes of Allen and Draper about to join. Good recruiting is going to keep them contending for a while.

Carlton’s list profile is set up for a 5 year premiership run.

The best KPP duo since Franklin & Roughead.

You think I’m bad now? Just wait until we 5-peat.

2026 is our year.

Flagachelle and Frank the Tank are going to rip up the G in September.

Jagga Smith will win the brownlow too.

I can feel it.

The last 3 premiership sides are truly alive and there is 75% chance one of them wins it again.

If Brisbane make the GF and repeat this year, they could become a dynasty, a 3 peat is not out of the question.

If Collingwood wins it that is 2 from 3 years, are they a dynasty?.

Geelong after winning it in 2022 are in a good position to grab a flag this year and maybe another after that. I picked Geelong to win it this year at the start of the season. An extremely focused and superbly balanced team all over the ground.

Hawthorn will have a chance but will have to find other options at scoring goals. Gunston is 35 years old despite having a career best season but won't be around forever. They can win it from 8th this season, they did win 15 games in the minor round though the most wins for an 8th placed team.

If Adelaide can get their game together, but will need better midfield mentality and a new coach may help esp if they stuff up 2026. But traditionally they don't handle things well when it all goes south and unlikely to become a dynasty.

Expect Sydney back in the 8 next year, that could be good news.

Biggest thing stopping a dynasty is the volume of teams contending for one. Brisbane is the obvious candidate but the Hawks have an excellent age profile so could easily jag 1-2 flags. Don’t see a reason why we won’t stay around the top four and pinch 1 here or there (though I’d be surprised if it’s multiple), the Giants I don’t really see disappearing off the radar, the Suns are coming into their prime. Collingwood just don’t seem to ever f**k off and they are proven finals players. The Dogs have enough top end talent that if they do find 2-3 missing pieces they could easily make the jump. Fremantle have a very young group that should logically develop, and Adelaide came from the clouds this year to finish first. Sydney never stay down for long either.

There are easily sides good enough for a dynasty but the general quality overall might make it hard to achieve it
