I really wanted to pick Houli, because I'm a big fan, but I believe that Deledio is really starting to show the goods - he could be in for a break out year.

Pendlebury will have an almost Brownlow winning year
Disagree.

Murphy will find another gear in 2009 and have an almost Brownlow year.

Eleven votes Brownlow last year after finishing second in the B & F.

Murphy is looking bigger again this pre-season.

The umps love awarding votes to smaller mids like Murphy who put their head over it and win their own ball.

after reading through all of this, i have come to the conclusion that people are either dillusional or biased, mostly the high votes for players like cotchin, delideo and murphy are due to underachieving clubs rushing into youth polls talking their players up, because youth is the only thing going for them with high draft pick players.

Selwood is is without a doubt the best first and second year draftee ever, rising star medal in his first season with limited pre season due to knee reconstruction, averaged 26 possesions a game in his second year, and won 3 matches off his own boot during the season which was just phenominal for a 30 gamer, the match against fremantle where we were 6 goals down at 3qtr time in perth, Selwood got 15 possesions in the last qtr and turned the game on its head, similar when Geelong played Hawthorn in round 17 with no ablett in the team, he got 33 possesions that game gathering 11 possesions in the final quarter earing best on ground.

In terms of x factor and match winning abilities skills and leadership, it is impossible to go past Selwood, he is just a freak, none of the players mentioned in this poll come even close to the abilities of Joel, what he has shown is above and beyond any of the others.

Richmond and Carlton fans will continue to carry on about their players having more potential, i say this is a load of garbage, because in terms of development and potential, Selwood is at a younger stage then both murphy and Delideo, and is on a equal level as Gibbs, he will only continue to get better aswell, i know this is hard to believe considering how much he has achieved, but it is the fact.

There's a lot of Doubt. I'd put Bucks ahead of him for starters.

I think if you look at Pendlebury, most people outside of Collingwood might not seem the potential for this guy.

Awards so far;

2nd Rising Star 2007
2nd Copeland Trophy 2007
3rd Copeland Trophy 2007

He has 55 games under his belt, has kicked 35 goals in those matches, and supposedly carried a knee complaint for the majority of last season, yet still managed 23 high quality games.

If he stays as close to the 100% fitness level as possible, he will dominate Collingwood's midfield, with Dane Swan always drawing the first tagger.

As he showed in that NAB CUP game, he has an evasive ability that only the very special possess (Judd, R. Harvey, Ablett etc), and will only improve over the next 5-6 years, as he grows into his body and becomes even more confident in his own abilities.

He will also be the next Captain of Collingwood, so out of that list,

PENDLEBURY IS THE NEXT BIG THING. (if he's not there already)

Would have been cotch, but he will never recover from is current injury 100%

Spot on. Selwood is without a doubt the best young midfielder in the comp right NOW. He is as good as Bartel and more important to geelongs success.

In the long run Deledio, Griffen and maybe Cotchin may end up better.

Deledio won Richmonds B & F and Richmond finished higher on the ladder.

I consider lids to be definate Brownlow chance this year. Him and Selwood are the best IMO but obviously Gibbs and Cotchin are also going to be stars unless something Mark Coughlan-like happens to them.

Half the players on that list must be a joke, their not bad but certainly not "next big thing" material.

These are the young midfielder kids who've shown the most IMO from a selection of clubs.
Who will be the best player over the next 10 years?

out of the ones up there id say that selwood and deledio will be awesome. Palmer etc will also be good, just not as good
