So thinking of getting one this weekend, is there more games available now than just Mario Kart that people would recommend?

Also can I play my original Wii games on this and use the old controllers?
I don't think the catalogue right now is massive but a few Mario games and Zelda if you haven't played it. It's a good price as well.

I'm also keen to know what games people would recommend.

Is the Mario game anywhere near as good as 64?

I'm just skeptical coz I don't wanna invest in a new system so Nintendo can **** me over by not making many games and then releasing a new console in a short period of time.

EDIT: I'm aware this comment will probably anger some fanatical pro-Nintendo people.

I haven't played the latest Mario but the New Super Mario World (I think it's called) is a side scroller in the mould of the originals. I like it but stuck at the second boss. It pissed me off and I almost chucked a wobbly.

There are two Mario games on Wii U.

New Super Mario Bros U is the side scroller.
Super Mario 3D Land is essentially a side scroller but in the 64 style where you can free roam most levels.

Both very good games.

I don't believe they'll do this, but understand why you can think it.

Earliest we'll see a new console is 2016, more likely 2017.

And use the old controllers?
Yes.

The game is Super Mario 3D World. I'd say it's close. The levels are very good, but there's no overworld hub like in 64, Sunshine and Galaxy 1.

The side scroller is New Super Mario Bros. U, which is the sequel to NSMB Wii, which you probably played. It's exactly what you would expect (in HD).
