When they had that 'attempted coup' back in 2016, I was working with a couple of Turkish Lt Colonels. Anyway, a few weeks after the event, their government was arresting thousands of people, including many officers in their defence force.

These two blokes are due to rotate home and duely leave. A month later I am at the military airport on Kabul, on my way home. And who should be there, but these two officers.

They were too scared to go home in case they were disappeared.

I wonder if they are still there?
