A lot of Indians are getting the IstandwithPutin hashtag trending on Twitter. They did similar last year when Israeli forces were bombing Palestine. What’s up with that?

Putin seen as anti-Muslim, same with Israel.

Modi is an ethno/religious fascist and his BJP stans are super vocal on social.

141 countries stood by Ukraine with their votes in the UN today. That's a heck of a lot more than just "the West", or "white people".

Tell me what you know about the Second Congo War, which killed six million people (probably lots more).

omg what a racist
what did the irish ever do to navalny
To be fair, I think that is the translator's issue. As far as I can tell the original Russian just means "prison van" and the etymology does not seem to have any racist overtones, more like "closed automobile". Should have gone with divvy van!

It was more about hypocrisy, but that is apparently how you and Putin operate
Na mate, you proved his point. Chicken and the Egg. He's not siding with Russia, he's pointing out that Amaerica set these rules for engagement. Russia is just following Americas lead.

I don't know much myself but I do remember hearing the horrific figure in the early 2000s that something like 85% of women in the Congo aged between 12 and 60 had been victims of wartime sexual violence.

Edit: Looking into this, it seems later investigations (2010) found the figure is "only" 40%. I heard it on the radio, perhaps I misremembered or perhaps it was an estimate.

No doubt you're right.
Its just that this thread has clearly reached the calling-our-antagonists-nazis stage and its been a long week at work and I don't have the self restraint to not make stupid jokes.

Exactly. The most horrific and brutal fighting since WWII, involved like eight countries at one point, had everything from planes being shot out of the air with SAMs to giant massacres by machete.

Millions and millions died, but barely anyone knows about it because they were black Africans.

A couple of hundred white blonde Ukrainians get killed in what is a centuries long ****ing hick Borat blood feud, and its the greatest crime in history.

White people's lives matter more.

Putin isn't trying to put the USSR back together.

He's trying to keep a client buffer state between him and NATO.
That makes zero sense. A client buffer state is like 'the tree branch, if it breaks, is more likely to fall on their heads. We should get in closer to make sure it falls on their heads and not ours. Let's get closer to the tree for our own security'.

Or is a client buffer a friend you carry around as a human shield, or a customer you carry around as a human shield?

Weasel word slogans that make no sense.

Please think before echoing words that are designed to sound logical but are anything but.

You do know Kyiv is being hit by a massive explosions as we speak? That their best forces in the east and being encircled.

They have no air force left, their much vaunted Turkish drones are all gone.

The Russians have parked a convoy dozens of kilomtres long outside Kyiv for days and all the Ukranians can do is post videos of it.

They've lost and the only question now is how much of their country they want destroyed and whether they do the we've lost and we're going to negotiate surrender or we've lost and we're going to fight an insurgency and destroy even more of the country in the process.
Perspective please mate. Some water and you are considering living somewhere else although it may be 'painful'. You talk like Russia have a right to bomb and come into people's lives. Because of prior wars zones where no one came out happy. This is happening because an old man who hackily governs a massive territory has had to many yes men around him and is fighting for survival internall. Now he is killing randomly in another country and the mates that were jockeying for their prosperity, survival, their place in a slightly altered system?

How nice and peaceful is your house? If I think it is peaceful I should 'unify' it with my property holdings. You are just writing twat from it. I will take the fine for the actions. Who will rise against me of any consequence? Is their an insurgency organised when someone blows up your neighbours shed or car in order to scare you out of your place?

Perspective please

"With an active investigation now underway, I repeat my call to all those engaged in hostilities in Ukraine to adhere strictly to the applicable rules of international humanitarian law. No individual in the Ukraine situation has a licence to commit crimes within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court."

Saw an interview with a former US investigator to war crimes in the former Yugoslavia. He pointed out that while 39 countries have referred Russia to the ICC, not one country referred Myanamar for the attempted genocide of the Rohinga.

White people's lives are more important.

Also US policy is to literally launch military action to prevent any of its officials ever being taken there lol.

This is very interesting - supports your view Val Keating

Last year Blinken confirmed the US view that the ICC has no jurisdiction over non-member states which includes both the USA and Russia. Nonetheless that same former investigator (not in any official capacity) said that they do have powers because Ukraine is a member, an argument the ICC has long maintained.

The great/evil man view of history is for children.

That makes zero sense.

Better to fight in Ukraine than Russia.

Same logic as applied in Iraq ... better to fight them over there than over here.

I didn't know Ukraine played cricket.
